The International ReSource Award is a prize acknowledging social entrepreneurial thinking and leadership in addressing social and/or ecological issues related to sustainable water management practices in developing and emerging countries. Each of three finalists will receive US$20 thousand and expert assistance to further develop their proposals in order to compete for a first prize of US$75 thousand. Eligibility for the ReSource Award extends to charities, non-profit organizations, and revenue-generating social enterprises working in the areas of water, sanitation, and hygiene in the developing world. Misk Foundation — Misk Grand Challenges (1st application window)
The Misk Foundations seeks innovative ways to positively engage young people (under the age of 30) in Global Citizenship. Participants are invited to propose innovative and creative solutions that uses new knowledge to positively engage young people in efforts that will reduce inequality related to six Global Goals: (1) No poverty; (2) Zero hunger; (3) Good health and well-being; (4) Quality education; (5) Gender equality; and (6) Clean water and sanitation. Over a three-year period, Misk Grand Challenges will launch new challenges, offering 100 young innovators across the world a grant of $100 thousand to develop their ingenious ideas into a concrete proof of concept. Alcoa Foundation — Location Grants
The Alcoa Foundation makes signature grants and location grants. Location grants serve communities around the world where Alcoa has production facilities or administrative offices. Grant making addresses the Foundation’s two key focus areas (i.e., climate change and biodiversity), in addition to local community priorities. Interested organizations make their grant requests through their local Alcoa facility. National Geographic Society — Conservation Technologies
The National Geographic Society seeks proposals from around the world that will advance innovative conservation technologies to explore, visualize, and protect the planet. Priority will be given to projects that use multi-sensor monitoring systems, advance surveillance/alarm systems for protected areas, or develop new tools and capabilities needed to generate data. Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations — Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture
The International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture aims to promote and support the conservation and sustainable use of plant genetic resources for food and agriculture. The goal is to enable farmers from developing countries around the world access to adapted varieties leading to increased productivity. The Benefit-sharing Fund funds single country projects (maximum funding/project: US$ 250 thousand) and multi-country projects (maximum funding/project: US$ 450 thousand) for up to 48 months. Eligible applicants include governmental and non-governmental organizations, research institutions, and regional and international organizations based in developing countries. U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service — Africa Program 2018
The program “Wildlife Without Borders” includes a regional component for Central Africa. Funding in 2018 will focus on projects that impact wildlife populations in the following countries: Burundi, Cameroon, Chad, Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Republic of Congo, Rwanda, and São Tomé and Príncipe.
