The EC will make grants to increase the availability of electricity generated from renewable energy in off-grid rural and semi-urban communities of the Philippines. The grants will be made in four lots, each with a different objective. Grants are up to €4 million, varying by lots and cost shares. The lead applicants should be NGOs, private or public utility operators, international organizations, foundations, electric cooperatives, or academic institutions in the EU, the Philippines, or other countries eligible under Europe’s DCI regulation. Pesticide Action Network (PAN) Africa — Small Grants for Organizations in Africa
PAN is an advisor to the Global Greengrants Fund (GGF) for grants to civil society in subjects of environment and sustainable development. PAN Africa invites African organizations to submit short proposals that may qualify for GGF support. Themes important to PAN include phasing out highly hazardous pesticides; alternatives to pesticides and DDT; monitoring the effect of pesticides on human health and environment; and opposition to GMOs. Proposals should include project objectives, methodology, expected results, and an activities budget. The requested contribution should not exceed US$3,500. Proposals must be sent to PAN by e-mail no later than 25 November 2016. Link
Monsanto Fund — Grants to Strengthen Farming Communities 2017
The Monsanto Fund makes grants to strengthen agricultural communities in several countries around the world. Grants of US$25 thousand and more are available to tax-exempt charitable organizations for activities and projects that address farmers’ education and training; food security; community water and sanitation; and other local needs. Monsanto’s international grants are administered at the country level. The Fund presents a list of eligible countries. Monsanto accepts international applications during two periods each year. Asia Pacific Forum on Women, Law and Development — Climate Justice Feminist Participatory Action Research for Change
APWLD invites grassroots women’s rights organisations and movements to take part in the Climate Justice Feminist Participatory Action Research programme. The programme aims to develop tools and resources that support rural, indigenous, migrant, and urban poor women to monitor, engage, and influence climate policies that impact on them. Royal Bank of Canada — Blue Water Project 2017
The RBC’s Blue Water Project makes grants for watershed protection and safe drinking water in two programs. (i) The Community Action Grants are up to $10 thousand for local and community organizations in Canada, USA, and the Caribbean. (ii) Leadership Grants ranging from $10 thousand to $100 thousand are available in North America and other countries where RBC does business (including China, Hong Kong, Singapore, United Arab Emirates, Bahamas, Barbados, Cayman Islands, Chile, and Uruguay). For Leadership Grants, applicants send an expression of interest before 04 November 2016. For Community Action Grants, the application deadline is 23 December 2016. Link
Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund — Grants for Biodiversity Conservation in the East Melanesian Islands
In partnership with the IUCN, the CEPF makes grants for biodiversity conservation in the East Melanesian Islands. Small and large (>US$20 thousand) grants will address biodiversity conservation in the islands region of Papua New Guinea. Funding is also available for multi-country projects covering the islands region of PNG, Solomon Islands, and/or Vanuatu. The Mitsubishi Corporation Fund for Europe and Africa (MCFEA) makes grants for environmental conservation, environmental education and research, and the relief of poverty. A special priority is projects that combine conservation with the economic and social development of local communities. Grants are to organizations for one year. U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service — Conservation of Rhinos and Tigers 2017
As part of its program “Wildlife Without Borders,” the USFWS makes grants for the conservation of selected wildlife species, including rhinos and tigers. Grants are for applied research, training, conservation management, community outreach, law enforcement, decreased human-wildlife conflicts, and other activities in conservation. Eligibility extends worldwide to qualified and relevant government agencies, other organizations, multi-national secretariats, and individuals. The program intends to make about 60 grants, ranging from US$50 thousand to US$100 thousand. The application deadline is 02 December 2016. Link
Scottish Government — International Development Small Grants 2017
The Scottish Government’s International Development Small Grants Programme provides project funding in support of the government’s International Development Policy. Applications for grants are invited from incorporated not-for-profit organisations which have a presence in Scotland and an annual turnover of less than £150 thousand. The priority countries are: Bangladesh, India (states of Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, and Orissa), Malawi, Pakistan, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Zambia. Awards are a maximum of £60 thousand for project grants over three years, or a maximum of £10 thousand for feasibility and capacity building grants over one year. Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs — Voice
The Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs is partnering with HIVOS and Oxfam on methods to effectively empower and give voice to marginalized and discriminated people in low- and lower-middle income countries of Africa and Asia. The thematic areas include one for improved governance and access to productive resources (e.g., land and water) and employment. The priority countries are Cambodia, Indonesia, Kenya, Laos, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Philippines, Tanzania, and Uganda. Voice hopes to stimulate learning about the most successful methods of building community empowerment. Applications are invited from legally registered nonprofit civil society organizations and community groups. The applicant (or a consortium member) must be based in Africa or Asia, and operate in one or more of the focus countries. There are four types of grants varying in purpose, amount, and implementation period. The application deadline is 15 October 2016. Link
