International Tree Foundation — Sustainable Community Forestry Programme

The International Tree Foundation makes grants through its Sustainable Community Forestry Programme to conserve and restore local forest resources and associated biodiversity; improve local livelihoods; and increase resilience to climate change. ITF welcomes applications for community tree projects in Africa, Asia, and the Caribbean.  The applying organization must be a registered NGO in the country where the project will take place. Grants are up to £3,000 for one year, with the possibility of applying for a second year. The deadline for applications is 17 October 2016.  Link

U.S. Agency for International Development — Water and Sanitation in Madagascar

USAID will fund a 5-year program in Madagascar (the “RANO WASH program”) to expand the country’s supply of potable water and improve sanitation in approximately 250 rural communes. The program will work with the Government of Madagascar, NGOs and private enterprises, academic and research institutions, and others to achieve sustainable water management for households and municipalities. USAID intends to offer one award.  Eligibility for funding is open to nonprofit and for-profit organizations in any country. Funding Opportunity RFA-687-16-000007. U.S. Agency for International Development — Water Innovation Technologies in Jordan

USAID aims to assist Jordan with water-saving technologies and practices.  The measures include interventions for safe water collection and storage; improved public awareness about water conservation; incentives for financing water infrastructure; and others.  The 5-year program will focus in communities most impacted by immigration, and it will also support water-conserving technologies in agriculture. Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund — Conservation in the Solomon Islands and Vanuatu

The CEPF invites proposals for large and small grants (i.e., under US$20 thousand) to conserve biodiversity in the Solomon Islands and Vanuatu.  The conservation priorities are stated in the announcement. Eligibility for funding extends to NGOs, community groups, universities, private enterprises, and other applicants from civil society.  Government enterprises and institutions may be eligible if they can meet special criteria. U.S. Agency for International Development — Climate Change in the Eastern and Southern Caribbean

USAID will fund projects in support of its broad objectives under its program for Eastern and Southern Caribbean Science, Technology, Innovations, and Partnerships.  These objectives include one to reduce risks and adapt to the impacts of global climate change. The relevant countries in the program are Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname, and Trinidad and Tobago. Eligibility for funding is unrestricted.  The closing date for applications is 30 September 2017.   Link

ARCOS Network — Biodiversity Conservation in Africa

The ARCOS Small Grants enhance collaboration to develop sustainable solutions for biodiversity and people, focusing on critical landscapes and watersheds of the Albertine Rift, the Great Lakes Region, and the African mountains. The grants program is open to civil society organizations. Governments and for-profit organizations may participate as project partners, or in coalitions where a civil society organization is the main applicant. The maximum grant is US$5 thousand. Applications (English, French) are invited during two periods each year: 01 April to 31 May, and 01 October to 30 November. Link

Virginia Gildersleeve International Fund — Funding for Projects Led by Women

VGIF provides grants up to US$7,500 for projects that are led by women, and that help empower women and girls in grassroots communities around the globe. Most grants are for one year. Past projects include examples in farming, kitchen gardens, water supply, and other aspects of sustaining local livelihoods.  The deadline for submitting letters of intent is 22 July 2016. Link

UN-Habitat — Demonstration Center for Clean Energy in Cameroon

UN-Habitat welcomes expressions of interest to build a Multifunctional Clean Energy Centre in one of the secondary towns of Cameroon. The project will serve as a demonstration center for sustainable building design, renewable energy, and provision of sanitation service through a public toilet. UN-Habitat will contribute a maximum of US$35 thousand towards the implementation of the project. The deadline for expressions of interest from non-profit organizations (including international NGOs and governmental organizations) is 28 July 2016. Link

Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF) — Biodiversity Conservation in Myanmar

CEPF will make grants in Myanmar to support Strategic Directions 4 and 6 for conservation of the Indo-Burma Biodiversity Hotspot.  Letters of inquiry are invited from NGOs, community groups, private companies, and other civil society organizations.  Applicants for large grants (over US$20 thousand) need to apply in English, using the template provided in the announcement. CEPF invites letters of inquiry from NGOs, community groups, private companies, and other civil society organizations for small grants (up to US$20 thousand) in all countries of the Indo-Burma Hotspot. The eligible countries are Cambodia, China, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam. Applicants can apply in English or in local languages (Burmese, Chinese, Khmer, Lao, Thai, or Vietnamese) using the template provided in the announcement. The closing date is 17 August 2016. Link
