The IGES, the United Nations University Institute for Advanced Studies on Sustainability, and Japan’s Ministry of the Environment announce the latest round of sub-grants under the Satoyama Development Mechanism. The International Partnership for the Satoyama Initiative (IPSI) promotes the sustainable use of Socio-Ecological Production Landscapes and Seascapes. Grants are up to US$20 thousand for field projects; research; collaboration activities; and capacity building and outreach that link ecosystems and community systems on a sustainable basis. European Outdoor Conservation Association — Funding for Conservation Projects
The European Outdoor Conservation Association (EOCA) makes grants for field-based projects in wildlife conservation; protection of forests and wetlands; litter clean-up on trails and mountains; environmental education in local communities; and other initiatives in support of nature-based travel and tourism. Project applications must protect a threatened species or habitat; have a link to the outdoor enthusiast; and involve hands-on practical conservation work. Grants are to nonprofit organizations in amounts up to €30 thousand for projects of one to two years anywhere in the world (except North America). There are two application periods per year. Soest Third World Group Foundation — Small-Scale Development Projects
The Soest Foundation, based in the Netherlands, supports small-scale development projects for water, agriculture, aquaculture, and other needs of the very poor. The average contribution to a project is about €2,500 to €3,000. Project assistance is provided for up to three years. Many recent grants are in Sub-Saharan Africa and India, but there are no geographical restrictions. Applications can be made in English or French. How to apply
Japan Water Forum — Small Grants for Water Projects
The Japan Water Forum makes small grants to grassroots organizations in least-developed countries. Funding is made to projects addressing local water-related issues, including innovative solutions for water and sanitation, risk reduction for water-related disasters, and WASH projects. Canon — Social and Environmental Community Support
Canon supports schools, non-profit, and community groups who are addressing both social and environmental issues in their community and inspiring change for future generations throughout Oceania. The Canon Oceania Grants Program supports individuals and organizations. European Commission — Support for Nature & Biodiversity Projects
The European Commission launches a call for proposals for EU action grants in the fields of Environment under the Programme for Environment and Climate Action (LIFE). The program supports demonstration, best practices, coordination and support actions, capacity building, and governance projects. The LIFE programs aim to facilitate the shift towards a sustainable, renewable energy-based economy; protect, restore, and improve the quality of the environment; halt and reverse biodiversity loss; and tackle the degradation of ecosystems. The project requested grant amount is not more than €60 thousand. In order to be eligible, the applicant must be a legal public or private entity, and be established in an EU Member State or a country associated with the LIFE Program. The Pollination Project — Animal Welfare Grants
The Pollination Project (TPP) supports individuals and groups who are working to protect farmed animals. TPP funds projects that aim to reduce the consumption of animals, advocate for farmed animal welfare, and raise awareness about farmed animal cruelty. The Pollination Project supports individuals and groups with US$1,000. Grants are open to anyone in the world, but applications from people in Brazil, India, and Mexico are especially welcome. The Global Youth Hackathon on Food Waste seeks passionate individuals who develop innovative, community-based solutions to combat food waste. European Commission — Agro-Forestry for Timor-Leste
The European Commission launches a call for proposals to promote green development and climate action in Timor-Leste. The objective of this call is to improve a climate change-resilient agro-forestry sector, contribute to the diversification of the Timorese economy, and increase food and income security. USAID — Afghanistan Integrated Youth Activity
The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) seeks applications for a cooperative agreement from qualified entities to implement the Afghanistan Integrated Youth Activity (AIYA) program. AIYA aims to empower Afghan youth, particularly girls and young women, with market-relevant technical and soft skills to enhance income, food security, and economic resilience.
