Safer End of Engineered Life — Reducing the Burning of Waste
The Safer End of Engineered Life funds projects that tackle the open burning of waste that lead to a risk to human health and safety. Activities must lead to demonstrable impacts for the beneficiaries, which reduces the risks posed to vulnerable groups as a result of the open burning of municipal solid waste. There are two types of grants available: impact grants (up to £60 thousand) and baseline study and awareness-raising grants (up to £20 thousand). Australian Government — Direct Aid Program India
The Australian Government seeks applications for its Direct Aid Program (DAP). The small grants program supports small-scale sustainable development projects and activities in the fields of agriculture; environmental conservation; and others. Grants are typically provided up to US$14,000 each for projects of max. 12 months. United Nations Development Programme — Small Grants for Sustainable Livelihoods Projects in Zimbabwe
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) invites proposals for projects towards supporting awareness and education on conservation; sustainable livelihoods activities; and alternative sources of income and energy in Zimbabwe. Proposed project budgets should not exceed US$150 thousand. Total expected duration of each project is up to 18 months. King Baudouin Foundation — Enterprises for SDGs
The Business Partnership Facility (BPF) awards subsidies to support and develop private sector involvement in Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in developing countries. Projects submitted under this call must contribute to achieving at least one clearly identified SDG. The BPF provides non-refundable grants between €50 thousand and €200 thousand that represent a maximum 50% of the total investment. Eligible countries include several from Asia, Latin America, the Middle East and North Africa, and Sub-Saharan Africa (full list of eligible countries is provided in the call). Partnerships must comprise actors from the private sector, civil society, academia and/or the public sector, with at least one organization from the for-profit private sector. Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs — DRIVE Infrastructure Projects
The Development Related Infrastructure Investment Vehicle (DRIVE) is a program of Dutch support for infrastructural projects in the areas of water; climate; food security; and sexual and reproductive health and rights. The program offers funding support to entrepreneurs worldwide for construction projects in the eligible DRIVE subject areas and countries. Funding ranges from €5 million to €60 million. United Nations Development Programme — Climate Innovation Accelerator
The Adaptation Fund Climate Innovation Accelerator (AFCIA) accepts applications for small grant funding. Grants are US$60 thousand (for new pilot projects) or US$125 thousand (for organizations with established customers). Funding should be used to enhance local climate action through the implementation of innovative locally-led adaptation practices, tools, and technologies. Grant funding is open to non-profit organizations, civil society organizations, business member associations, cooperatives, and community-based organizations registered in a developing country. Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit — Support to Micro and Small Enterprises
WIDU.africa supports job creation in Africa by redirecting remittances from the African diaspora in Europe into micro and small businesses of relatives or friends in participating African countries. The WIDU Grant supports new and existing businesses with up to €2,500. Currently, WIDU offers local calls targeting green businesses in Kenya and Ethiopia to support enterprises interested in building a sustainable green future in their communities. Target sectors include renewable energy, agriculture, and reduction of waste. Applicants need to either have an existing small business or a concrete business idea. The Remittance Innovation Champions 2022 South Africa finances private sector initiatives that develop innovative and cost-effective international remittance services for marginalized populations, particularly women and the rural poor. Global Landscapes Forum — Seed Funding to Protect and Restore Forests
The Global Landscapes Forum (GLFx) provides seed funding to protect and restore forest areas in Africa. Applications run through GLF chapters, groups of local change agents that mobilize their communities and stakeholders to promote sustainable landscape restoration. Selected chapters will receive a seed fund of €5 thousand to run chapter activities such as community training, workshops and toolkits to facilitate the implementation of community action plans.
