The program provides financial support of up to US$8 thousand to innovative projects contributing to low carbon green city development. Australian Government — Direct Assistance Program 2019-2020
The Direct Assistance Program (PAD) is a small development program which works directly with communities in developing countries. The current call for proposals is open to local community organizations in Cape Verde, Sao Tome and Principe, and Guinea-Bissau. Projects can request funding of up to €15 thousand. Focus sectors include water and sanitation; environmental protection; economic livelihoods, and food security, among many others. The submission deadline is 04 August 2019. Here
WWF South Africa — Funding Environmental Conservation in Southern Africa
The WWF Nedbank Green Trust funds innovative projects to solve socio-environmental challenges in South Africa. Projects should focus mainly on South Africa with strong focus on environmental outcomes relevant to the wellbeing of people. The Green Trust will invest up to R3 million over 3 years. European Development Fund — Development of Coffee and Cocoa Value Chains in Uganda
The European Development Fund aims to contribute to the economic development of coffee and cocoa value chains in Uganda. Priority areas includes supporting smallholders to adopt more climate resilient systems and practices, gender diversity in agriculture, and sustainable and organic coffee/cocoa production. U.S. Department of State — Enhancing Development and Growth through Energy
The U.S. Department of State announces an opportunity for organizations to submit applications to the Asia Enhancing Development and Growth through Energy (EDGE) initiative. The aim of the program is to grow sustainable and secure energy markets throughout the Indo-Pacific. Eligibility is limited to U.S. and foreign non-profit organizations, educational institutions, and public international organizations. Innovate UK and the Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology (MIGHT) seeks applications for the Newton-Ungku Omar Fund. The challenge invites innovative products, processes and services with focus on waste management or mobility. Eligibility extends to UK based businesses with at least one partner organisation, business, or academic institution located in Malaysia. The Taronga Field Conservation Program invites applications for conservation projects. Taronga gives funding and support to conservation projects that help protect and regenerate habitats, stop poaching and trafficking of wildlife, and reduce conflict between communities and wildlife. Taronga will support the field-based conservation programs with grants of up to $20 thousand. Eligibility for funding extends to NGOs, community groups, and individuals. U.S. Agency for International Development — WomenConnect Challenge
The WomenConnect Challenge is a global call for solutions to improve women’s participation in everyday life. USAID seeks comprehensive solutions that empower women and girls to access and use digital technology to drive positive health, education, and livelihood outcomes for themselves and their families. USAID will support the development of selected pilot approaches through technical assistance and monetary support. Approx. three grants ranging from US$900 thousand to US$1 million will be made for projects of up to 24 months in duration. The GSMA Innovation Fund for Digitisation of Agricultural Value Chains seeks digital solutions to improve smallholders’ financial inclusion, livelihood and climate resilience. Projects should be implemented in Sub-Saharan Africa or South Asia. Funding of up to £220 thousand per project is available, as well as mentoring, and project support.
