The Forest and Farm Facility together with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED), the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and AgriCord launched the call for proposals to support regional and global forest and farm producer organizations to enable climate resilient landscapes and improved livelihoods. There will be one grant for a regional organization based in Africa, one in Asia and one in Latin America. The Norwegian Human Rights Fund (NHRF) invites applications for the Land and Environmental Rights call for proposals. Through this call, NRHF seeks to increase support to human rights organisations working with land rights and environmental rights, including natural resources.The call is open to human rights organisations located and working with land and environmental rights in Indonesia, Mexico and Thailand. Unilever — Young Entrepreneurs Awards 2019
The Unilever Young Entrepreneurs Awards invite nominations of individuals ages 18 to 35 anywhere in the world who have initiatives, products, or services that address sustainability challenges in three categories. The categories are ‘improve people’s health and well-being’; ‘improve the health of the planet’; and ‘contribute to a fairer and more socially inclusive world’. Unilever will recognise up to eight winners in 2019, each of whom will be awarded a cash prize in addition to one-to-one mentoring support for a year. The overall winner will receive the “HRH The Prince of Wales Young Sustainability Entrepreneur Prize” of €50 thousand, the remaining winners will each receive a €8.5 thousand cash award. The Woodard & Curran Foundation funds innovative projects that apply or advances technology by addressing water issues (e.g. water, wastewater, stormwater). One total grant of US$100 thousand will be awarded over three consecutive years. Eligibility extends to US-based non-profit organizations. US Department of Labor — Equal Access to Quality Jobs for Women and Girls in Agriculture
The US Department of Labor announces the fund (EQUAL) to assist projects in Colombia that economically empower vulnerable women and girls in agriculture. The project must work within the agricultural sector in sugarcane, including unrefined brown sugar, and in cut flowers around specific geographical areas in Colombia. International Union for Conservation of Nature — Call for Proposals: Reduce Plastic Leakage into the Ocean
IUCN announces the call for proposals to reduce plastic leakage into the ocean. The overall aim is to enhance plastic leakage reduction or avoidance, reducing plastic leaking into the marine environment as part of the Marine Plastics and Coastal Communities (MARPLASTICCs) project. Target countries are Kenya, Mozambique, South Africa, Thailand and Vietnam. IUCN will provide financial support of up to US$50 thousand in each target country for a period of 12 months. The Canada Fund for Local Initiatives invites proposals that meet the needs of local communities in any one of the following countries: Turkey, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Turkmenistan. The priorities under this call include one on environment and climate action focusing on adaptation and mitigation, as well as on water management. The average contribution is expected to be in the range of C$15 thousand to C$30 thousand per project. Larger projects may be considered on an exceptional basis.
