The National Geographic Society seeks proposals from around the world that will engage students and other citizen scientists in activities to address real world problems and lead to actions in science and conservation. Applicants should design and/or implement tools that support citizen science work, particularly data collection or data analysis. European Commission — Solutions to Improve Health in Cities
The EC calls for visionary and integrated solutions (e.g. therapy gardens, urban living rooms, creative streets, city farms) to increase citizens’ health and well-being in cities. These solutions should address reducing the exposure to climate-related risks, pollution (including noise), and environmental stress, among other factors. The Commission accepts requests in the range of €10 million. To be eligible, consortia must comprise at least 4 cities from different Member States or Associated Countries defined in the call for proposals. The deadline for applications is 19 February 2019. United Nations Development Programme — Ecosystem Challenge for young African Entrepreneurs
The purpose of the ecosystem challenge is to seed youth entrepreneurship focused activities through provision of catalytic grant capital of US$10 thousand. Proposed projects should provide an innovative solution to development challenges facing the youth in Africa. Thematic areas may include one or multiple categories of the Terra Viva Grants Directory. Pesticide Action Network (PAN) Africa — Small Grants for Organizations in Africa
PAN is an advisor to the Global Greengrants Fund (GGF) for grants to civil society in subjects of environment and sustainable development. PAN Africa invites African organizations to submit short proposals that may qualify for GGF support. Areas important to PAN include projects on the themes of Water Resources; Climate Changes; Sustainable Agriculture; and the Protection of Forests. Proposals should include project objectives, methodology, expected results, and an activities budget. The requested contribution should not exceed US$3,500. Youth for Water and Climate — Support for Youth-led Projects
The Youth for Water and Climate #YWC Platform calls for youth-led projects related to water management and climate change adaptation. Selected projects will receive financial support of up to €3,500 and be featured on the YWC platform. Eligibility extends to young project leaders between 18 and 35 years. Disney Conservation Fund — Annual Conservation Grants 2019
The Disney Conservation Fund makes grants for wildlife studies, habitat protection, and community conservation and education in critical ecosystems around the world. DCF supports projects that build on previous work, and that have the potential to contribute to long-term conservation. Eligibility extends to U.S. nonprofit organizations. Applicants from other countries need to apply in collaboration with U.S. nonprofit partners. Grants are up to US$50 thousand for projects of up to two years. France Libertés – Danielle Mitterrand Foundation — Water and Climate
France Libertés – Danielle Mitterrand Foundation launches a call for proposals about the positive impact people can have on the link between the cycle of water and climate. The Foundation will support projects which work to return water to the earth to restore the climate, in order to guarantee water access and to encourage its sustainable management. For this purpose, grants of between € 8 thousand and €12 thousand can be requested. Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation — Pacific AgriHack Lab 2018
The Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation (CTA) and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) seek innovations that have to potential to overcome challenges in agriculture, agribusiness and aquaculture. The AgriHack Lab aims to address the limited support for upscaling the use of novel and existing ICT platforms/applications or developing prototypes for farmers (especially smallholders and fisheries) and small and medium enterprises. Three selected winners will receive €5 thousand to implement their solution. The competition is open to ICT experts, tech savvy young professionals, farmers and/or agri-entrepreneurs operating in Fiji, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, or Vanuatu. IHE Delft announces a call for “Research for Development Proposals led by Institutes from Developing Countries”. The purpose of this call is to encourage collaboration between researchers from developing countries and to stimulate problem-orientated research to support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) related to water and development.
