In support of conservation in the Wallacea Biodiversity Hotspot, CEPF invites letters of inquiry from organizations wishing to work in or affect key biodiversity areas and species in Timor-Leste. Eligibility for funding extends to NGOs, community groups, private enterprises, universities, and other civil society organizations. Typical grants are US$100 thousand for periods of 12 to 30 months, although CEPF will consider proposals up to US$300 thousand for exceptionally qualified applicants. U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service — Africa Program 2017
The program “Wildlife Without Borders” includes a regional component for Central Africa. Funding in 2017 will focus on projects that impact wildlife populations in the following countries: Burundi, Cameroon, Chad, Central African Republic, Congo, Dem Rep Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Rwanda, and São Tomé and Príncipe. The announcement defines the priority themes. Applications are open to qualified individuals; multi-national secretariats; institutions of higher education; and nonprofit NGOs. Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund — Biodiversity in Eastern and Southern Africa
On behalf of the CEPF, Birdlife International announces the 16th and final call for proposals supporting biodiversity conservation in the Eastern Afromontane Hotspot. The eligible countries are Dem Rep Congo, Ethiopia, Malawi, Mozambique, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Zimbabwe. The maximum grant is US$20 thousand. Applications need to be submitted by 23 November 2016. Earth Journalism Network — Biodiversity Media Grant
The Internews Earth Journalism Network (EJN) offers the Biodiversity Media Grant to support journalism networks and media organizations throughout the world in increasing the capacity of media to cover critical issues of conservation and biodiversity. EJN is especially interested in projects that focus on conservation in high-biodiversity regions of the world such as the Amazon, Central Africa, and Southeast Asia. Preference will be given to applications from or affiliated with professional journalists, media organizations, journalism schools, and the like. EJN will also consider applications by NGOs or environmental groups looking to build the capacity of journalists to cover conservation issues. The average grant will be about US$10 thousand. World Wildlife Fund — Funding for Women Conservationists in the Congo Basin 2017
WWF-US supports women conservationists in the Congo Basin for short-term training and for academic and technical degrees in conservation. Applicants must be citizens and permanent residents of Central African Republic, Dem Rep Congo, Gabon, or Rep Congo. Note: EFN plans to include Cameroon in the list of eligible countries for the deadline on 01 February 2017. Most professional development grants are for less than six months and are funded up to US$5 thousand. Most academic grants are for one year and up to US$10 thousand for study anywhere in the world. Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund — Grants for Biodiversity Conservation in the East Melanesian Islands
In partnership with the IUCN, the CEPF makes grants for biodiversity conservation in the East Melanesian Islands. Small and large (>US$20 thousand) grants will address biodiversity conservation in the islands region of Papua New Guinea. Funding is also available for multi-country projects covering the islands region of PNG, Solomon Islands, and/or Vanuatu. Eligibility for grants extends to community groups, NGOs, academic institutions, private companies,and other civil society organizations. The deadline for letters of inquiry is 28 November 2016. Link
Oriental Bird Club — Bird Conservation in Asia
The OBC Conservation Fund makes grants for bird conservation in Asia. Grant-making priorities are projects that benefit globally threatened bird species; that conserve threatened bird habitats; and that are led by Asian residents. Small Conservation Awards are up to £1,500 for projects of 12-18 months, with applications before 31 March of each year. There is a special early deadline on 15 December for projects that have to begin before July. The OBC also considers special and emergency applications at any time. Link
Blue Earth Alliance — Photography Projects
Blue Earth sponsors photography projects that educate the public about threatened cultures, endangered environments, and other social concerns. Blue Earth provides assistance with fund raising, publishing, and publicity. However, it does not make direct grants to sponsored projects. The deadlines for proposals are 20 January and 20 July of each year. Link
Mitsubishi Corporation Fund for Europe and Africa — Grants for Conservation and Sustainable Development 2017
The Mitsubishi Corporation Fund for Europe and Africa (MCFEA) makes grants for environmental conservation, environmental education and research, and the relief of poverty. A special priority is projects that combine conservation with the economic and social development of local communities. Grants are to organizations for one year. Conservation Agriculture Network in South-East Asia — Grants for Conservation Agriculture
The CANSEA scientific platform is a network of research partners keen to implement agro-ecology and conservation agriculture in Southeast Asia. CANSEA announces its second call for proposals to promote and strengthen conservation agriculture in the four CANSEA member countries: Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Vietnam. Grants are up to US$30 thousand. CANSEA actively encourages co-funding. All recognized institutions in the CANSEA member countries are eligible to apply.
