Government of Czech Republic — Scholarships for University Applicants from Developing Countries
The Czech Republic provides scholarships to support nationals from developing countries at public institutions of higher education in the Czech Republic. The fields of study include ecology, wildlife management, natural resources, forestry, and tropical agriculture (among others). Applications need to be submitted before 30 September of each year. Qatar National Research Fund — Women in Science
The Qatar National Research Fund (QNRF), in partnership with CRDF Global, welcomes applications from Qatari and Qatar-born female PhD students and MSc graduates for the Women in Science fellowship. The selected WIS fellows will spend four months at a U.S. university department under the direction of leading female researchers for work in one of the following four topics: ecology of infectious diseases; environmental science; cyber security; or materials science in energy. CRDF Global will coordinate the travel arrangements and accommodations for all selected fellows for the duration of the fellowship. The application deadline has been extended to 30 September 2016. Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF) — Biodiversity Conservation in Myanmar
CEPF will make grants in Myanmar to support Strategic Directions 4 and 6 for conservation of the Indo-Burma Biodiversity Hotspot. Letters of inquiry are invited from NGOs, community groups, private companies, and other civil society organizations. U.S. Department of State — Marine Protected Areas and Ocean Conservation
The U.S. Department of State will fund projects in marine protected areas and reduced nutrient pollution affecting coastal waters. Grants in Category 1 will strengthen compliance capacity for marine protected areas in the Bahamas, Belize, Honduras, and Panama. Grants in Category 2 will fund projects to more effectively manage marine protected areas in Comoros, Djibouti, Kenya, Madagascar, Mauritius, Mozambique, Seychelles, Somalia, and Tanzania. Grants in Category 3 will aim to reduce nutrient pollution in waterways, coastal waters, and the ocean. The Phoenix Zoo (Arizona, USA) makes small grants to support wildlife conservation and science worldwide. Grants are limited to US$3 thousand for one year. Loro Parque Fundación — Conservation Grants 2017
The Loro Parque Fundación supports conservation projects which focus on threatened parrot species. To a lesser extent it also supports projects for cetaceans in marine conservation. The deadline for applications (English, Spanish) is 12 September 2016. Link
Pacific Asia Travel Foundation — Grants for Sustainable Tourism 2017
The Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) makes grants for projects in environmental and cultural heritage that contribute to sustainable tourism in the Asia-Pacific region. The grants support environmental conservation and wildlife protection, heritage conservation, and education and awareness about these issues. The majority of grants are to organizations based in Asia-Pacific developing countries and territories. Each application requires references, one of which must be a PATA chapter.
