Panthera makes grants for research and conservation of the world’s populations of wild cats. The Kaplan Graduate Awards Program (up to US$15 thousand) supports conservation efforts of young biology graduate students working on all wild felids in situ, with a particular focus on threatened species. The Sabin Snow Leopard Grants Program supports in situ conservation efforts on the snow leopard in Asia. The Small Cat Action Fund (up to US$15 thousand) supports in situ conservation and research on many of the world’s 31 small cat species. The Winston Cobb Memorial Fellowship is made to an exceptional early-career conservationist to undertake a field-based internship for training and experience on a wild cat conservation project selected by Panthera. World Resources Institute — Land Accelerator Africa
The Land Accelerator is a training and mentorship program targeted specifically toward businesses that restore degraded forests, farmland, and pasture. The Land Accelerator Africa provides entrepreneurs across Africa with mentorship and networking opportunities, technical training, and workshops, as well as potential investors. Participants have the chance to receive an innovation grant of US$5,000. Companies that restore land and have at least one prototype are preferred. Canada Fund for Local Initiatives — Community Projects in Vietnam
The Canada Fund for Local Initiatives invites proposals that meet the needs of local communities in Vietnam. The priorities under this call include women’s economic rights, decent jobs and entrepreneurship, and investing in the poorest and most vulnerable (which may include agriculture or aquaculture projects), as well as environment, climate action focusing on adaptation and mitigation, and water management. The average contribution is C$15 thousand to C$30 thousand per project. Eligibility extends to local community organizations, non-profit organizations, and academic institutions. WWF Nepal — Conservation Awards 2024
The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) recognizes and honors individuals and organizations at the grassroots level who have made significant contributions to protect Nepal’s rich biodiversity. WWF Nepal welcomes nominations for Conservation Awards 2023 from Nepali individuals and/or organizations working in the field of conservation and natural resource management. Fondation Segré — Conservation Action Fund
Fondation Segré provides support to address global conservation efforts specifically focusing on the conservation of globally threatened ungulate species as recognized by the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species. The calls aim to safeguard their habitats, address the threats they face, and promote the well-being of both the species themselves and the communities that share the same ecosystems. The maximum grant size for conservation action support is €50 thousand for a maximum duration of 12 months. The maximum grant size for research support is €7 thousand. Tusk Trust — Awards for African Conservation 2024
The Tusk Conservation Awards highlight the achievements of individuals working for conservation in Sub-Saharan Africa. The Prince William Award for Conservation in Africa (£100 thousand) is awarded to a distinguished individual for exceptional lifetime achievement in African conservation. The Tusk Award for Conservation in Africa (£75 thousand) is awarded to an individual who has demonstrated a considerable commitment to conservation, and who has already made a significant impact. The Tusk Wildlife Ranger Award (£30 thousand) recognizes the dedication and commitment of an individual who works in the field on a daily basis protecting Africa’s wildlife. Government of Luxembourg — Business Partnership Facility
The Government of Luxembourg provides financial support to the private sector in Europe to set up sustainable commercial projects in partnership with private or public organizations in developing countries. Project proposals should focus on one or more of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and may not exceed €200 thousand. Applications can be submitted before 30 April and 31 October 2024. University of Bonn — SDG Fellowships
The University of Bonn invites international postdoctoral fellows for a joint research project on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The scientists will research and teach together with a professor from the University of Bonn for one or two semesters. The university seeks collaborations with universities and research institutes in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Post-doctoral researchers invited by a professor of the University of Bonn for a joint research project are eligible. The funding can cover a travel allowance, a scholarship of €3 thousand per month, and a research expense allowance of up to €500 per month. IUCN-Netherlands — Land Acquisition for Conservation
The World Conservation Union in the Netherlands (IUCN-Netherlands) provides grants of up to €85 thousand for the purchase and protection of threatened wildlife habitats and vulnerable ecosystems in Asia, Asia-Pacific countries, Africa, and Latin America. The grants are to qualified and experienced local non-profit conservation organizations. Local conservation NGOs and CSOs are eligible for this program and are invited to submit their proposals. Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development — Development Projects in Arab Countries
The Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development (AFESD) finances development projects in countries of the League of Arab States. Grants can be used for technical and economic feasibility studies; or seminars and conferences. Thematic areas include agriculture and dry lands, water supply, environment, and many others. Grant size varies from less than US$20 thousand to over US$10 million. Grants are made to governmental organizations, NGOs, and civil society organizations. There is no application deadline.
