U.S. Department of State — Congo Basin Conclave

The U.S. Embassy in Kinshasa announces an open competition for organizations to submit applications to organize a regional conclave bringing together stakeholders working to preserve the Congo Basin. Phase one of the project will start with country-specific sessions for U.S. government selected participants. During phase two of the project, a maximum of 50 participants from the five country specific sessions will gather in Kinshasa for a 1-2 day Congo Basin Conclave. The Conclave will provide a forum that enables experts to network across borders. Finally, participants will conceive and propose projects for U.S. government funding that invest in the people of the Congo Basin. Awards to organize the conclave may range from US$200 thousand to US$250 thousand. Eligibility to apply extends to non-profit organizations, individuals, non-profit educational institutions and governmental institutions from s from the U.S. and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. U.S. Department of State — Countering Wildlife Trafficking in Sub-Saharan Africa

The U.S. Department of State seeks to strengthen the capacity of wildlife and timber-related institutions and actors in Sub-Saharan Africa. The call seeks to enhance law enforcement and justice sector efforts to counter wildlife trafficking, ultimately helping to disrupt wildlife trafficking operations, and removing opportunities for criminal organizations to profit from illicit proceeds derived from the wildlife trade. Funding ranges from US$500 thousand to US$2 million. Eligibility for this award is restricted to US-based and foreign non-profit organizations and educational institutions. European Development Fund — Sustainable Cooking Solutions Tanzania

EuropeAid aims to promote sustainable forest management and wood-fuel production in rural areas with an overall aim of enhancing environmental sustainability, in particular the sustainability of the wood-fuel value chain. European Development Fund funds projects that combat the illegal clearing of forests for charcoal production and formalize the charcoal value chain so that producers and traders are legally recognized as legal business entities. Grants under this call range from €1,5 to 2.5 million. Eligibility extends to non-profit organizations that can demonstrate clear working relations with Tanzanian government agencies involved in forestry and energy management. European Commission — Civil Society Development in Eritrea

The European Commission (EC) aims to promote capacity development of local civil society in Eritrea. The action aims to contribute to an inclusive and independent civil society which engages in decision making in the areas of economic development, women’s rights, and sustainable development (agriculture, environment). Applicants may request between €300 thousand to €700 thousand in project funding. Eligibility extends to non-profit organizations established in the European Union or Eritrea. European Commission — Civil Society Development in Moldova

The European Commission (EC) aims to promote capacity development of local civil society in Moldova. The action aims to support a fair energy transition and increased access to renewable energy for social buildings, and support improved access to water, sanitation and hygiene facilities in schools. Applicants may request between €700 thousand to €4.3 million in project funding. Eligibility extends to non-profit organizations established in the European Union or Moldova. The European Commission (EC) supports cross-border cooperation with a view to promoting socio-economic development in Montenegro and Albania. The call for proposals seeks cooperation in the field of cultural and natural heritage preservation that enhances the competitiveness of the tourism sector, protects the environment and promotes climate change adaptation, or promotes labor. Applicants may request up to €900 thousand in project funding. Eligibility extends to non-profit organizations established in Montenegro or Albania. SHE Foundation — Global Seed Grant

Korea SHE Foundation promotes and creates safe and sustainable households, workplaces and local communities. The grant will fund community projects that are related to safety, health, and environment, e.g., campaigns, workshops, training programs, content production, etc. Projects can focus on finding solutions to and promote clean air and water, sustainable agriculture, clean energy, climate action, conservation, environmental education and environmental justice. Each project is funded up to US$3 thousand. Only citizens or grassroots organizations from OECD ODA recipient countries can apply. The application deadline is 19 March 2023. More information

OPEC Fund for International Development — Young Professional Development Program

The Young Professional Development Program (YPDP) is a two-year program designed to prepare young professionals from OPEC Fund member countries for a career in global development. The themes include poverty reduction, energy and sustainable development, environment, and other related science and technology fields. YPDP offers training, coaching and mentoring, the opportunity to experience different departments and access to professional networks. To be selected for the program, applicants must be 30 years of age (or younger) and hold a Master’s degree. The deadline for applications is 24 March 2023. More about the YPDP

SEED — Starter Workshop for Eco-Enterprises in India

SEED offers valuable resources and professional support to expand entrepreneurial ideas while learning from peers during interactive SEED Starter workshops. SEED Starter workshops consist of a team of 2-5 members that bring in a business idea for addressing environmental, social and economic challenges. Successful alumni are invited to apply for a SEED Grant for up to €1,000 which pays for resources required to establish the new enterprise. Earth Journalism Network — Story Grants to Report on the Mediterranean Sea

Earth Journalism Network (EJN) offers story grants to selected journalists to report on overfishing, illegal fishing and the biodiversity crisis in the Mediterranean region. ENJ expects to make 5 awards of €1.000 each. Applicants can be from any country that borders the Mediterranean Sea. Applications are open to journalists working in any medium (online, print, television, radio) and other expert media practitioners with professional reporting experience.
