The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency seeks applications for a collaborative program that would enhance environmental governance capacity in several regions in Central America and the Caribbean, South America, the Middle East and North Africa, and other bilateral initiatives, including Mexico, China, Indonesia, Taiwan, Sub-Sahara Africa, Ukraine, and Brazil. The Young One World Lead2030 Challenge for SDG 14 seeks solutions that could protect and/or restore existing ocean based resources. Earth Journalism Network — Coastal Resilience Story Grants
The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) offers reporting grants to journalists worldwide to support the production of in-depth stories that will call attention to coastal resiliency and solutions for coastal issues. EJN welcomes any story ideas that will explore coastal resilience issues, including ecosystem rehabilitation, livelihood and food security, shelter and infrastructure, land use and development. Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF) makes small grants in support of biodiversity conservation in Indonesia with focus on the “Wallacea Biodiversity Hotspot.” Grants are in support of community-based sustainable small-scale fisheries, protection and conservation of endangered marine species, marine protected areas management, and activities that promote improved marine and coastal ecosystems. The Social Innovation Tournament recognizes and supports the best European social entrepreneurs with projects focusing on the environment (with a special emphasis on biodiversity and ecosystem conservation). Prizes range from €10 thousand to €75 thousand. In 2023, the Special Category prizes will go to projects focusing on sustainable cities and communities. Solution Search — Changing Unsustainable Trade
Rare’s Center for Behavior & the Environment and partners seek existing solutions that are changing behaviors to help solve the world’s most challenging environmental problems. For this year’s contest, Solutions Search seeks proven behavior-change initiatives in Latin America and the Caribbean that reduce the unsustainable/illegal wildlife trade. Contest entrants get access to capacity building, workshops, and networking opportunities to further refine and scale their solution. Two winners will win US$20 thousand. Kevin Richardson Foundation — Preserving African Wildlife Species
The Kevin Richardson Foundation funds the work of organizations who preserve African wildlife species, protect wildlife habitats, and reduce conflict between humans and wild animals. A wide variety of proposals will be considered, including academic research and rescue and rehabilitation projects. The Foundation awards up to US$ 25 thousand to successful applicants. Projects based in southern Africa are favored, however all projects based in Africa will be considered. Applicants must be a registered non-profit organization or trust.
