European Commission — Environmental and Climate Action in Montenegro

The European Commission seeks to build capacity and awareness and improve the implementation of environmental and climate action policies in Montenegro. The priority areas to be addressed are Awareness; Recycling; Knowledge about Biodiversity; Environmental and Climate change in schools; Inclusion of Civil Society and economic operators in policy dialogue on environment and climate change issues; and Implementation of Environmental policies. Applicants may request between €30 thousand and €90 thousand for project implementation. Eligibility extends to non-profit, civil society organizations established in Montenegro or a Member State of the European Union. Deadline for submission of concept notes is 20 April 2020. Link

Colorado State University — Seminar: Planning and Managing Tourism in Protected Areas

Colorado State University (CSU) offers a seminar in the Western USA for individuals engaged in tourism and outdoor recreation in protected areas. The next seminar is scheduled for September 2020. Ideal participants are mid-level professional and technical personnel who work for governmental or NGO conservation and tourism organizations; in academia; in the private sector; and in community-based and indigenous tourism and conservation initiatives in or near protected areas. CSU does not offer fellowships or scholarships for the seminar. However, it posts guidelines on where and how to search for potential funding support in their FAQs. Missouri Botanical Garden — Fellowships for Visiting Researchers 2020

The Center for Conservation and Sustainable Development at the Missouri Botanical Garden offers short-term fellowships for professionals in conservation biology, ecology, botany, and related fields. The fellowships include small grants for travel and support costs for professional visits at the Missouri Botanical Garden lasting 4-12 weeks, varying with each fellowship program. Ashoka — Act for Biodiversity Challenge

The “Act for Biodiversity Challenge,” supported by Vittel, seeks already-implemented solutions that engage people and organizations across sectors to preserve and restore biodiversity. Solutions can be designed for agriculture, urban environments, and forests. The applicants must be a nonprofit, for-profit, hybrid organization, or have a fiscal sponsor with an already implemented project beyond the idea stage (pilot projects are eligible). Up to four winners will receive a cash prize (a total of CHF 60 thousand will be distributed among the winners). Applications have to be submitted by 03 March 2020. About the challenge

Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund — Biodiversity Conservation in the Tropical Andes (Capacity-Building Program)

The CEPF invites applications for small grants (maximum budget: US$49,950) in support of biodiversity conservation in the Tropical Andes. Civil society organizations are requested to submit Letters of Inquiry (LOI) to implement a capacity-building program for CEPF grantees and key stakeholder groups located in Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru. U.S. Agency for International Development — Save Forests and Biodiversity in the Philippines

USAID aims to combat threats to biodiversity caused by habitat loss and degradation due to deforestation, mining and marine ecosystem degradation, and overexploitation in the Philippines. Therefore, USAID seeks projects and activities to be implemented in areas of biological significance and/or land areas of high climate change mitigation potential. The total estimated budget under this call is US$22 million. USAID intends to make two to three awards. The call is open to eligible U.S. and non-U.S. foundations, academic organizations, for-profit private enterprises, and consortia. The closing date for applications is 10 March 2020. Link

InterAction — Photo Contest 2020

InterAction encourages photographers from all around the world to submit powerful photos that illustrate innovative, effective, and inspiring efforts in international relief and development. Examples of empowering women, innovative technology, food security and environmental development are within the contest’s theme, though entries are not limited to those areas. The Grand Prize Winner will receive US$1,000 and the winning photo will be showcased at InterAction’s 2020 Forum in April 2020, in Washington, DC (USA). The deadline for submissions is 11 March 2020. Die Presse — MSc Scholarships in Environmental Technology & International Affairs

The daily newspaper “Die Presse” seeks applications for the MSc Program “Environmental Technology & International Affairs” which is available at the Technische Universität Wien (Austria). Students will receive €13,600 to pursue their MSc, thus contributing indirectly to the solution of problems relevant for environment at an international level. European Commission — Conservation of Forest Ecosystems in West Africa

The European Commission seeks to enhance climate resilience in Sierra Leone and Guinea. Through this call for proposals the EC invites projects that aim to protect the Outamba-Kilimi National Park (Sierra Leone), Kuru Hills Forest Reserve (Sierra Leone), Pinselli and Soyah Classified Forests (Guinea) and the buffer zones and forest corridors that inter-connect them. Grants requested under this call for proposals must fall between €1.45 million and €2.9 million. U.S. Mission to Slovenia — NGO Small Grants Program

The US Embassy offers small grants for projects that strengthen ties between the United States and Slovenia. Eligible topics for projects are broadly defined and include energy security, entrepreneurship and business development (including women), youth engagement, and environmental preservation and sustainability. Projects may request funding of US$10 thousand to US$70 thousand. Only registered Slovenian NGOs (institutions of higher education and nonprofits) may apply.
