The European Commission (EC) seeks to optimize the contribution of land to agriculture, food security, climate change mitigation and adaptation, and the preservation of ecosystems in São Tomé and Principe. To achieve this goal, the EC accepts proposals for scalable pilot initiatives that help conciliate different land uses and improve land governance. The overall amount made available is €2.32 million. Cartier Women’s Initiative Awards — Edition 2021
Cartier supports women entrepreneurs who lead social enterprises in their early phases that have potential to grow significantly. Cartier reviews applications from Latin America, North America, Europe, Sub-Saharan Africa, the Middle East & North Africa, and the Asia-Pacific region. Previous laureates have included several whose work links to environment and related issues, e.g., product recycling, low-cost energy, water treatment, fair trade, and others. U.S. Department of State — Support for Environmental Cooperation
The U.S. Department of State announces funding for logistics, meetings coordination, and digital communications to support environmental cooperation between all the U.S. Free Trade Agreement countries. Funding of up to US$197 thousand will be awarded to be used for logistics and meeting coordination support for in-person and virtual meetings, as well as digital communications to promote environmental cooperation programs. The Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI) invites proposals that meet the needs of local communities in Turkey, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkmenistan. CFLI provides funding to projects that implement environment and climate action focusing on adaptation and mitigation, and water management, among other thematic priorities. The average contribution is C$20 thousand to C$40 thousand per project. The Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI) invites proposals that meet the needs of local communities in Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, and Tajikistan. CFLI provides funding to projects that implement environment and climate action focusing on adaptation and mitigation, and water management, among other thematic priorities. The average contribution is C$10 thousand to C$25 thousand per project, with a maximum contribution of C$100 thousand. ENI CBC Med — Call for Capitalization Projects
The Mediterranean Sea Basin Program is a cross-border cooperation initiative implemented by the EU and neighboring coastal territories. The ENI CBC Med finances cooperation projects with focus on biodiversity conservation, climate change, and pollution for a more sustainable Mediterranean area. ENI CBC Med accepts applications for capitalization projects in the following priority areas: Water Management, Waste Treatment and Recycling, Renewable Energy, Integrated Coastal Zone Management. StartupXs — COVID-19 Response Fund
StartupXs launches the COVID-19 Response Fund for start-ups and social enterprises with the aim to support early-stage social entrepreneurs to adapt to the pandemic. Support extends to social entrepreneurs whose projects focus on natural resources as well as other categories of the Terra Viva Grants Directory. Participation is open to any start-up or social enterprise worldwide. Priority is given to early-stage start-ups launching innovative products or ideas. One winner will receive US$1000. Lion’s Share — Resilience in Wildlife Community Grants
The Lion’s Share supports initiatives in communities dependent on wildlife-based tourism to withstand the current Covid-19 outbreak and other future global shocks. Small grants of US$20 thousand to US$50 thousand will be made to non-profit organizations in developing countries to implement local community actions to protect severely threatened ecosystems or wildlife. Projects should focus on innovative solutions to wildlife conservation challenges, while simultaneously enhancing local people’s well-being and livelihood. The application deadline is 15 May 2020.
