Irish Aid offers scholarships to qualified candidates from Africa to undertake Masters degrees at universities and colleges in Ireland. Awards are made in the fields development studies, rural development, biodiversity conservation, and many other subject areas relevant to the Terra Viva Grants Directory. The scholarship covers course fees, flights, accommodation, monthly allowances, insurance and other incidental expenses. Eligible countries are Burundi, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe. Oriental Bird Club — Bird Conservation in Asia
The OBC Conservation Fund makes grants for bird conservation in Asia. Grant-making priorities are projects that benefit globally threatened bird species; that conserve threatened bird habitats; and that are led by Asian residents. Small Conservation Awards are up to £1,500 for projects of 12-18 months, with applications before 31 March of each year. The Nippon Foundation makes its overseas grants to nonprofit organizations based outside of Japan. Particular interests in this program area include legal, policy, and governance issues in maritime affairs; support for multilateral networks on ocean issues; and marine environmental management and oceanography. Mediterranean Marine Protected Areas Network — Grants for Small Projects 2020-2021
MedPAN launches a new call for small projects to support Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) in the Mediterranean. The grants will reinforce the management of MPAs from the perspective of integrated coastal zone management and sustainable financing. They will also promote habitat mapping and the protection of marine turtles. MedPAN’s contribution will be €20 thousand per project (matching contributions of 25 % are required). The eligible countries are Albania, Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Montenegro, Tunisia, and Turkey. Biodiversity Revisited — Essay Competition
Biodiversity Revisited seeks applications for an early career essay competition. Early-career researchers are invited to share their view on biodiversity conservation or develop a provocative idea on how biodiversity research and practice can be improved. The essays submitted will be part of the discussions at the international Biodiversity Revisited Symposium taking place in Austria (September 2019). French Agency for Development — Blue Economy in Sri Lanka
The French Agency for Development (AFD) seeks applications from Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), preferably in partnership with other international/local non-profit organizations, to enhance the quality of the coastal environment and to contribute in developing the Sri Lankan Blue Economy potential. Proposed projects under this call may focus on, but are not limited to, environmental education, awareness and advocacy, and the preservation of the coastal biodiversity and natural heritage. Australian Government — Direct Assistance Program 2019-2020
The Direct Assistance Program (PAD) is a small development program which works directly with communities in developing countries. The current call for proposals is open to local community organizations in Cape Verde, Sao Tome and Principe, and Guinea-Bissau. Projects can request funding of up to €15 thousand. WWF South Africa — Funding Environmental Conservation in Southern Africa
The WWF Nedbank Green Trust funds innovative projects to solve socio-environmental challenges in South Africa. Projects should focus mainly on South Africa with strong focus on environmental outcomes relevant to the wellbeing of people. The Green Trust will invest up to R3 million over 3 years.
