The BRICS Young Scientist Forum seeks to strengthen existing bilateral and multilateral relations as well as cooperation among its member countries Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. BRICS invites proposals from young scientists with projects in the thematic areas Ecology, Materials Science, and Artificial Intelligence for the 5th BRICS-YSF Conclave in Russia. Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture — Graduate Teaching Assistantships
RUFORUM’s program for Graduate Training Assistantships (GTA) grants support for 325 PhD training opportunities during the next four years. The GTA aims to improve the quality of higher education and increase the pool of PhD academic staff in RUFORUM’s member universities by facilitating cross-university PhD studies and teaching. Applicants need to be nominated for PhD training by his/her university. Online Turf offers £500 for full time education of an agricultural or horticultural subject field. Eligibility extends to students enrolled full time in an agricultural or horticultural course in university or college. British Council — Newton Travel Grants for Researchers
The Newton Fund Researcher Links Travel Grants support early-career researchers to undertake an international research placement to strengthen links for future collaboration. UK’s current partner country for these travel grants is South Africa. Subject areas for the workshops vary by partner country to include agriculture, climate and environment, sustainable energy, water and sanitation, and several others. Researchers that reside in the UK can apply for funding to visit a university or research institution. Researchers residing in South Africa can apply for funding to come to the UK. Climate Tracker’s Train-the-Trainer course covers basic journalism skills, such as pitching, article-framing, interviewing, data visualization in the context of human-interest climate journalism. IDEX Accelerator — Virtual Fellowship Program
IDEX invites applications worldwide for a Virtual Fellowship Program. The virtual program is designed to enable young professionals to acquire the tools and resources they need for a successful career in social entrepreneurship. Each fellow will gain access to online learning labs with 3-4 social enterprises from across the globe, webinars, and community engagement. Royal Society — Fellowships for Independent African Researchers
The Royal Society, in partnership with the African Academy of Sciences, offers fellowships to African early-career researchers who have the potential to become leaders in their field. Each FLAIR Fellowship will be for two years and will offer up to £150 thousand per year, alongside training and mentoring. Applications should be within the remit of natural sciences, including agricultural and biological research, among others. Africa YES Centre — Social Entrepreneurship Training Program
The Africa Young Entrepreneur Support (YES) Program is a 6-month intensive fully sponsored entrepreneurship training that provides young African social entrepreneurs (between 18-29 years) with the resources they need to create impact in their local communities. 30 selected candidates will receive hands-on training sessions, mentorship and access to up to US$15 thousand in grants. Please note that the program requires candidates to be in Nairobi for the entire program period because travel and accommodation is not covered. National Geographic Society — Early-Career Grant
The National Geographic Society accepts applications from less experienced individuals who seek to lead a project. Applicants are not required to have an advanced degree and should submit their proposal at least four months before the project start date.
