The ICGEB SMART Fellowship program provides fellowships to scientists in the early stage of their career wishing to spend between 3 and 9 months at a research institution in an ICGEB Member State other than their own. Neotropical Grassland Conservancy — Conservation Research and Education in Latin America: Equipment and Student Grants
The Neotropical Grassland Conservancy (NGC) provides grants and equipment to students and scientists working in grassland habitats in Latin America. Research grants of one year are open to Latin American researchers affiliated with a university, museum, or conservation organization. Additionally, the NGC offers equipment grants for conservation science, and small grants to Latin American graduate students doing field projects. The NGC describes the amount of funding; eligibility criteria; review process; and application deadlines for each of the three programs. Awards range from US$500 to US$5 thousand. International Herpetological Symposium — Amphibian and Reptile Conservation
The International Herpetological Symposium (IHS) provides financial assistance to individuals or organizations conducting herpetological research, conservation, and education. African Wildlife Foundation — Geospatial Leaders Fellowship
The African Wildlife Foundation invites early- to mid-career African conservation professionals to apply to the AWF Geospatial Leaders Fellowship. The Fellowship is a professional development program for conservation leaders who use GIS, remote sensing, and spatial data to address wildlife conservation and landscape management challenges across Africa. The fellowship supports a cohort-based learning experience that includes advanced geospatial training, mentorship, peer learning, and leadership development, with fellows applying their skills to real conservation projects within their organizations. It is open to African nationals working in conservation NGOs, government agencies, research institutions, or community-based organizations, and typically covers training costs, mentorship, and participation support rather than direct cash grants. Morris Animal Foundation — Wildlife Health (Mammals)
The Morris Animal Foundation supports research that advances the health and welfare of mammals. The Foundation invites proposals in three categories: Established Investigator, First Award, & Pilot Study Awards. The maximum duration of an Established Investigator award is 36 months. There is no limit to the budget request, however, the average award is expected to be US$100 thousand. The maximum duration of a Pilot Study award is 12 months, and the total budget cannot exceed $20,000. The Morris Animal Foundation provides animal health research funding for applicants from historically marginalized groups. Applicants must hold a veterinary degree at the time of the grant award. Monarch Butterfly Fund — Support for Undergraduate and Graduate Students
The Monarch Butterfly Fund supports activities to protect the oyamel fir forests in which monarch butterflies overwinter in Mexico. The Lincoln P. Brower Award supports research projects of undergraduate and graduate students on the conservation of monarch butterflies and their habitats. The Hult Prize is a start-up accelerator for social entrepreneurship which brings together college and university students to solve the world’s most pressing issues. In 2026, participants can pitch any idea for a social enterprise, as long as it is world-changing and aligned with at least one of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
