University of Bergen — PhD Course on Food Security
The Bergen Summer Research School offers parallel short courses for PhD students and young researchers on themes of urgent societal problems focusing on the transition to sustainability. One of the six courses will concentrate on the question “Can more food be obtained from the ocean in a sustainable way?”. Another course will deal with food and nutrition insecurity. Stipends to participate in the course are available for qualified individuals who are currently enrolled for studies and carrying out research in a list of eligible developing countries. EarthCorps — International Program 2018
EarthCorps invites applications from emerging environmental leaders around the world to participate in an environmental service program in the USA. Participants from the USA and other countries take part in field projects such as tree planting, trail construction, stream restoration, and removal of invasive plants. The international Program is a 6-month learning experience for non-U.S. citizens, which takes place in Seattle, Washington, USA. Applicants should be 18-28 years of age, with a university degree in an environmental field (or equivalent work experience), and speak conversational English. International participants receive a living stipend, health insurance, and accommodations with host families. However, each participant is responsible for her/his travel to Seattle, Washington. Global Sustainability Fellows Program — Fellows 2018
The GSF Program invites applicants to participate in the 2018 curriculum focused on sustainability, systems thinking, and community development. The accepted fellows will receive remote orientation before participating in a multi-week session at the Arava Institute for Environmental Studies in Israel during June-July 2018. Preference will be given to applicants who are entering, currently enrolled, or recently graduated from an accredited graduate-level program. However, the program is open to other highly-skilled individuals with unique life experiences or backgrounds, and it encourages applications from under-represented countries and communities.
