AirAsia Foundation — Improving Communities

The AirAsia Foundation makes grants to social enterprises with projects to empower communities, enable them to build sustainable livelihoods, tackle social problems, or protect the environment. Applicants must be registered and be based in ASEAN. NGOs looking to diversify funding sources through social enterprise are welcome to submit an application. AirAsia’s priority is to support smaller social enterprises. Applications can be submitted anytime, but the review process may take up to 6 months. Link

Climate Tracker — Climate Journalism Mentorship Program

Climate Tracker invited applications for the Climate Journalism Mentoring Program, exclusive to Latin America. Journalists from Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Peru, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Honduras, Mexico, and Venezuela will publish stories on the impact of the climate crisis in the region, with a focus on the transition to fair energy. African Leadership Academy — Anzisha Prize for Young Innovators

The Anzisha Prize seeks young innovators ages 15-22 in Africa who develop and implement innovative solutions to challenges facing their communities. Past awards include innovations in energy, agriculture, and ecological consumer products. The grand prize winners will share prizes worth US$140 thousand. CIFAR — Global Scholars

The CIFAR Azrieli Global Scholars program provides funding, skills training, mentorship, and opportunities for research collaboration. CIFAR invites early-career researchers pursuing the most exciting and important research questions across the natural, biomedical and social sciences and the humanities to join an interdisciplinary research program. As part of the program, scholars receive C$100 thousand in unrestricted research support over two years. To be eligible for this program, applicants must hold a PhD (or equivalent) and be within the first five years of starting a full-time research position at an institution of higher education or research. Masdar — Leadership Training and Mentorship

The WiSER Pioneers Program offers young women aged 25 to 35 access to educational workshops and global networking opportunities. The program empowers young women to take a leading role in the global transition to a net-zero future. Applicants must be employed or self-employed and hold a degree in a field related to the environment, energy, sustainability, or STEM disciplines. Campus France — Visiting Fellowship for Early Career Researchers

The Make Our Planet Great Again (MOPGA) initiative calls for applications from young researchers who wish to carry out their research in France. MOPGA intends to award 40 fellowships for a duration of 12 months with a monthly allowance of €2,500. Eligible research themes include climate change and energy transition. Embassy of Japan in Trinidad and Tobago — Grants for Grassroots Projects

The Embassy of Japan in Trinidad and Tobago provides financial assistance in the fields of basic human needs (agriculture, medical and health care, public welfare, and the environment), human resource development (education, research, training), and basic economic infrastructure. The Embassy supports projects proposed by NGOs, schools, hospitals, and local government authorities in 9 Caribbean countries. Potential recipients are international or local NGOs, community-based organizations, educational institutions, and local governments. The application deadline is 20 December 2024. International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis — Young Scientists Summer Program 2025

IIASA invites doctoral students worldwide to participate in its Young Scientists Summer Program held at the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis’s headquarters in Laxenburg, Austria. The selected participants work with IIASA’s senior scientists in research on energy, ecosystem services, water, risk policy and vulnerability, and other topics. Scholarships are available from IIASA’s national member organizations. A limited number of scholarships are available from other sources. Social Science Research Council — Next Generation Social Sciences in Africa 2025

The Social Science Research Council offers Individual Research Fellowships to support research and analysis on peacebuilding. Past topics have included some related to climate change and land issues. Fellowships support six months of field-based research through a stipend of up to US$15 thousand. Applicants must be African citizens currently residing in an African country while holding a current faculty position at an accredited college or university. Planet Forward — Story Award

The Planet Forward Storyfest Awards invites students to submit stories that inspire, motivate, and drive change. Planet Forward seeks stories surrounding the people, ideas, and innovations moving the world toward a greener future. The grand prize is a travel to the Galápagos Islands.
