SEED — Starter Workshop for Eco-Enterprises in Thailand

The SEED Starter Program offers workshops to guide young entrepreneurs from early stages of ideation to the generation of a viable business plan. SEED Starter invites applications from teams who develop green and inclusive business solutions to key social and environmental challenges in Thailand. Participation in the workshops is free, although participants need to cover their transportation costs and accommodation. All SEED Starter participants consist of a team of 2-5 members. Participants will be eligible to apply for a SEED Grant (of up to €1,000) after successfully completing the workshop. The application deadline is 24 October 2022. SEED Starter Program Thailand

European Commission — Floating Wind Energy Deployment

The European Commission (EC) offers grants for innovation on floating wind energy deployment optimized for deep waters and different sea basins (Mediterranean Sea, Black Sea, Baltic Sea, North-east Atlantic Ocean). The proposal is expected to deploy in one of the sea basins in Europe. Applicants must be established in a Member State of the European Union, countries associated with Horizon Europe or low- and middle-income countries. The application deadline is 23 February 2023. SOAS University of London — Open Online Courses

SOAS University offers free massive open online courses (MOOCs) to get an introduction in a new subject. MOOCs are general level courses that require only one to two hours commitment each week. Courses include one on Global Energy and Climate Policy as well as other thematic areas in the broad scope of Global Diplomacy. Courses are online and self-paced. Link to available courses

ONE International — ONE Africa Award

The ONE Africa Award honors the exceptional work of individuals and organizations based in Africa to help Africa achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The amount of the award is US$100 thousand, which may be split into more than one prize. Eligibility for the award extends to civil society organizations, non-governmental organizations, and other groups based in Africa that can demonstrate commitment and success in advocacy to promote the attainment of one or more of the SDGs. U.S. African Development Foundation — Africa Entrepreneurship Challenge

The U.S. African Development Foundation (USADF) requests proposals for the USADF Accelerate Africa Entrepreneurship Challenge. Selected African youth and women-led enterprises will receive funding in the form of grant capital of up to US$250 thousand. Projects must be innovative scalable enterprises that address local needs and have an impact on communities and livelihoods. To be considered for the Challenge, applicants must be 100% African-owned and -managed. Applicants must submit the completed application before 30 September 2022. Government of Egypt — ClimaTech Run

ClimaTech is the global competition for tech-entrepreneurs and artists addressing the most pressing climate challenges. ClimaTech focuses on the use of information and communications technology in developing innovative solutions and new applications for climate action in the areas of energy, agriculture, and water management. The grand prize is US$100 thousand. A special prize will be given to the top two African startups. Participants must be a registered startup operating for over 2 years. Serengeti Energy — Renewable Energy Incubator Program

The Umoja Incubator is an incubator program for aspiring developers in the renewable energy industry who have big ideas but lack the experience or financial capabilities to submit their proposals to the Serengeti initiative. Serengeti Energy will invest in renewable energy technology (wind, solar and hydro only) with a size between 3 MW-50 MW across Africa. The application is open to any company with projects in Sub-Saharan Africa. The winning projects will enter into a partnership with Serengeti Energy and receive financing. Climate Tracker — Just and Sustainable Energy

Climate Tracker invited applications for collaborative grants on just and sustainable energy transition in Southeast Asia. Fellows will receive training and be mentored by journalists and experts on a just energy transition. Selected fellows will benefit from grants to fund their in field reporting and publication and a network of like-minded journalists across the region. Applicants must apply as a team with another journalist from their country. Both applicants can be from the same or a different media outlet. The deadline to apply is 09 September 2022. More

Clean Cooking Alliance — Haiti Clean Cooking Fund

The Haiti Clean Cooking Fund provides financial and technical assistance to support the growth of clean cooking companies in Haiti. The size of individual awards will range from US$25 thousand to US$250 thousand. The Fund will give preference to companies that can provide matched funding (50%). The Fund is open to companies and nonprofit entities in Haiti. Non-Haitian Companies may participate, provided they have an interest in entering the Haitian market or partnering with a local Haitian entity to manufacture, supply, and distribute clean cooking solutions in Haiti on a commercial basis. Earth Journalism Network — Story Grants on Renewable Energy in India

The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) offers grants to boost reporting on renewable energy in India. ENJ will support the production of in-depth stories on the prospects, problems and pathways forward for renewable energy. In addition to funding, selected journalists will receive support from experienced mentors through the story production process. ENJ expects to award story grants with an average budget of US$1,200 each. Applications are open to India-based journalists and other expert media practitioners with a demonstrated interest in reporting on the renewable energy sector, or other topics related to energy and the environment.
