African Centre of Excellence in Energy for Sustainable Development — PhD Program in Energy for Sustainable Development

The University of Rwanda offers PHD research Programs in Energy for Sustainable Development in (1) Renewable Energy, (2) Electrical Power Systems, and (3) Energy Economics. Total S.A. and others — Energy Access Booster 2021

TotalEnergies, Enea Consulting and Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL) launch the Energy Access Booster 2021 – a call for projects to support entrepreneurs in the field of energy access in Africa and Asia focusing on sustainable mobility. Five selected entrepreneurs will receive up to US$50 thousand and expertise support as well as mentorship. The deadline for applications is 15 August 2021. Energy Access Booster 2021

Empower a Billion Lives — Solutions to Energy Poverty

IEEE Empower a Billion Lives is a global competition aimed at fostering innovation to develop solutions to electricity access. Solutions are expected to be scalable, innovative and sustainable. The competition is open to student groups, companies, research institutions, and non-profit organizations. Winners of the regional round will be provided enough funding to complete a 2-month long field pilot. Global final winners will receive up to $1 million in prize monies. Teams must present their solution concept and a three-minute pitch video until 31 October 2021. Link

ETH Zurich — Opportunity Grants

The Leading House ETH Zurich calls for proposals for opportunity grants with China, Japan, South Korea and ASEAN countries. Opportunity grants will support activities of Swiss researchers from universities or public research institutes linked to specific events, incidents, or major environmental and economic developments in the region in Asia. The call is open to all scientific disciplines and fields of research. Senior scientists may request up to CHF 50 thousand for projects of up to 12 months. The application deadline is 18 July 2021. Enel Green Power — Renewable Energy Plants for Biodiversity

Enel Green Power seeks new tools and techniques aimed at improving the environmental sustainability and biodiversity preservation of its renewable installations. Participants should propose innovative strategies and models to preserve local flora and fauna, to be complementary with the initiatives already in place in Enel’s current energy plants. Enel will make one award of US$15 thousand to the best submission. In case of multiple awarded solutions, there will be at least one submission receiving an award no smaller than US$5,000 thousand, while the others will receive US$2,500. Florence School of Regulation — Scholarship for Women in Energy

The Florence School of Regulation (FSR) supports eight women around the globe working in energy. The Lights on Women Scholarship provides scholarships to women contributing to innovative solutions, research, and initiatives that accelerate a sustainable, resilient, and just energy transition. The Scholarship provides free access to one of the FSR community courses starting in Autumn 2021. The application must be submitted in English by 27 June 2021. Lights on Women

Global Energy Show Awards – Nominations

The Global Energy Show Awards recognize leaders and innovators in the energy industry. Awards include the Emerging Clean Technologies Award for technologies that improve environmental performance or decrease cost of production through environmental protection activities; and the Suzanne West Environmental Excellence Award to recognize initiatives that have minimized or eliminated the environmental footprint of the oil and gas industry; among other awards. Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia — Leadership Program on Environment for Sustainable Development

The Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC) accepts applications for the 12th Central Asian Leadership Program on Environment for Sustainable Development (CALP). The program provides knowledge and capacity to young leaders from government bodies and other stakeholders in order to enable their switching to Sustainable Consumption and Production in Central Asia and Afghanistan. CALP provides a neutral youth dialogue platform for discussing water cooperation, climate change, energy efficiency, as well as the coronavirus pandemic and its impact. CALP seeks participants that are representatives of civil society organizations, state, and academic sectors. Preference will be given to the applicants between the ages of 28 to 40. CAREC will accept applications until 15 July 2021. Link

STEAM Future Makers — Clean Energy Competition

STEAM Future Makers seeks ideas and creative solutions for clean, sustainable, and accessible energy. This competition is open to anyone above 18 years of age from anywhere in the world. Individual contestants are encouraged, however teams of up to three people are allowed to participate via one submission. Ten finalists will be selected and awarded US$1,000 each.
