Islamic Development Bank — Prize for Women’s Contribution to Development

The IDB Prize for Women’s Contribution to Development draws international attention to the vital role women play in developing their communities and the world. The theme for the 1439H – 2018 Prize is “Women’s Contribution to Promoting Peace and Stability.” (Note: This could possibly include thematic areas important in the Terra Viva Grants Directory.) The Prize consists of two cash awards: US$50 thousand for a woman or a group of women; and US$100 thousand for an organization. Eligibility extends to women engaged in activities and /or residing in one of the IDB member countries, or in a Muslim community in non-member countries. India Department of Science & Technology  — Indo-Hungarian Joint Research

The Indian Department of Science & Technology (DST) calls for proposals for joint research projects between India and Hungary. Grants are to promote collaborative projects between at least one Indian and one Hungarian scientist. Themes are energy and water; biotechnology; and others.  Proposals must be submitted in English. Indo-US Science and Technology Forum — Bioenergy Awards

The IUSSTF’s program Bioenergy Awards for Cutting Edge Research (B- ACER) aims to nurture contacts between students and scientists from India and the USA in frontline area of biofuels and bioenergy. Opportunities are available for Indian citizens to pursue internships and fellowships at reputed U.S. scientific/technological institutions or laboratories to undertake the research work. Scottish Government — International Development Small Grants 2018

The Scottish Government’s International Development Small Grants Programme provides project funding in support of the government’s International Development Policy. Applications for grants are invited from incorporated not-for-profit organisations which have a presence in Scotland and an annual turnover of less than £200 thousand. Project grants should focus on any of Malawi, Rwanda, or Zambia in themes of food security; renewable energy; climate change; water; and others. Grants for capacity building and feasibility studies will be accepted in relation to any country designated as medium/low on the UN’s Human Development Index — but with priority for Malawi, Rwanda, and Zambia. Awards are a maximum of £60 thousand for project grants over three years, or a maximum of £10 thousand for feasibility and capacity building grants over one year. Research Council of Norway — India/Norway Research on Bio-Economy

India’s Department of Science and Technology (DST) and the Research Council of Norway (RCN) will jointly fund Indo-Norwegian research in mutually agreed fields. The current call in the field of bio-economy research will focus on the following topics: agriculture and land-based food; biotech; aquaculture; and bioenergy/biofuel. Joint proposals must be developed in cooperation between principal investigators representing a research institution in Norway and a research institution in India. Rise Fund — Under 30 Impact Challenge

The Rise Fund is partnering with Forbes and Echoing Green to sponsor the “Under 30 Impact Challenge.” The challenge is designed to celebrate entrepreneurs around the world, under the age of 30, who are building successful for-profit enterprises that drive positive social and environmental impact. The eligible sectors include energy, food and agriculture, and five others. Applicants must be under age 30, and their businesses must be in a growth phase. There are no restrictions by nationality or residence. The winner will qualify for an investment of US$250 thousand by The Rise Fund, plus an in-kind media grant by Forbes. The submission deadline is 06 September 2017. 

African Development Bank — Young Professionals Program 2018

The Young Professionals Program (YPP) is a three-year leadership opportunity for the development of future leaders at the African Development Bank. The Bank’s priority operational areas include energy, food and agriculture, and others. Candidates for the YPP should possess a master’s degree or equivalent in any field relevant to the Bank, plus three years of work experience, and should not be older than age 32. UNIDO Institute — Training Course on Sustainable Energy

UNIDO and the Energy Academy Europe (EAE) are organizing a training course for professionals to address key issues relating to sustainable energy. Participation is open to mid-level professionals from emerging and developing countries with expertise in industrial development, energy and environment, and other relevant fields. The 8-day course will provide participants the opportunity to familiarize themselves with trends in sustainable energy solutions. Training sessions and all materials will be in English (no translation will be provided). The number of participants is limited to 25 persons. Applications will be closed on 15 September 2017. Qatar National Research Fund — Qatar-UK Research Networking

The Qatar National Research Fund, in collaboration with UK partners, is launching the Qatar-UK Research Networking Programme. The joint programme is designed to support the participation of early-career researchers in workshops focusing on building links for future collaboration between Qatar and the UK. Clean Energy Wire — Grants for Energy and Climate Journalism

Clean Energy Wire CLEW is offering grants for collaborative media teams on stories with international significance. Topics that explore the transition to clean energy, climate policy, and the shift to a low-carbon economy will be considered. Grants will be between €4 thousand and €6 thousand. Three journalist teams will be invited to the 2017 Clean Energy Wire CLEW Network Conference, which will take place in Bonn (November 2017). The application deadline is 15 September 2017.
