Go. Go Love Foundation — Funding for Community Projects

The Go. Go Love Foundation seeks applications from local charities and non-profit organizations that work with local communities. Thematic areas include WASH, resilience building to climate change, disaster/risk reduction, and others. Applicants may request funding of up to AUD30 thousand over a 1-2 year project period. The current round of funding targets small to medium non-profit organisations working in developing countries in Asia (South-East, South and/or Central), Africa or Central America. Oriental Bird Club — Bird Conservation in Asia

The OBC Conservation Fund makes grants for bird conservation in Asia. Grant-making priorities are projects that benefit globally threatened bird species; that conserve threatened bird habitats; and that are led by Asian residents. Small Conservation Awards are up to £1,500 for projects of 12-18 months, with applications before 31 March of each year. There is a special early deadline on 15 November for projects that have to begin before July. The OBC also considers special and emergency applications at any time. How to apply

Mission Innovation — Carbon Capture Innovation Challenge

Mission Innovation (MI) seeks to identify technologies in the field of CO2 capture, separation, storage and CO2 value addition. The funding of US$ 200 thousand to US$1 million under this call will be available to support activities towards design, research & development of technologies that can address widely affordable ways for carbon capture. The project has to be led by a scientist from India with the participation of at least one MI member country (including China, Indonesia, South Korea, and Saudi Arabia, among others). Mission Innovation — Prize for Energy Innovations

Through its Champions Program, Mission Innovation seeks to recognize exceptional researchers and innovators who are developing new ways of making clean energy cheaper and more reliable by using it more efficiently. MI Champions will participate in the fourth MI ministerial (MI-4) meeting in Canada (May 2019). Participating developing countries to nominate a candidate are India, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, and China, among other developed countries. The deadline for registration is 10 September 2018. Details

British Council — Researcher Links Workshops, UK/Turkey

Researcher Links Workshops bring together early-career researchers from the UK and a partner country to make international connections that can improve the quality of their research. UK and Turkish Institutions can request up to £40 thousand to be used towards workshop implementation. All workshops must be held in 2019. Each proposal must have one Principal Applicant from the UK and one Principal Applicant from Turkey. The submission deadline is 17 September 2018. Link

British Council — UK-China PhD Placements

The UK-China Joint Research and Innovation Partnership Fund is a sponsorship opportunity for UK and Chinese PhD students and their supervisors to spend three to twelve months (for PhD students) and up to three months (for supervisors) at higher education institutions in China or the UK. The focus is on research areas that include food and water security, environmental technologies, and energy — among others. Safari Club International Foundation — Grants for Wildlife Conservation and Research 2019-2020

The SCI Foundation funds projects and direct wildlife programs dedicated to wildlife conservation, research, and outdoor education in Africa, Asia, and North America. Grants are up to US$50 thousand per year. The application deadline is 31 October 2018. Link

UK Natural Environment Research Council — Towards a Sustainable Earth

The UK Natural Environment Research Council and funding partners invite proposals for the Towards a Sustainable Earth (TaSE) initiative, which aims to improve our understanding of the complex interactions between people and the environment required to make progress in achieving the United Nations Global Goals (Sustainable Development Goals). Applicants are invited to submit multilateral collaborative research proposals comprising eligible researchers from a minimum of three nations (Eligible funding agencies can be found in the call for proposals). Succow Foundation — CADI Fellowship 2018

The Michael Succow Foundation supports early-career scientists from Central Asia though the Central Asian Desert Initiative (CADI) Fellowship Programme. The project must have a clear relevance for the country of origin (China, Iran, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Turkmenistan or Uzbekistan) and should focus on the increase of sustainability or improvement of livelihoods in the region. Belmont Forum — Big Data for Environmental Change

The Belmont Forum launches a 4-year competitive call for projects on Science-driven e-Infrastructure Innovation (SEI) for the Enhancement of Transnational, Interdisciplinary and Transdisciplinary Data Use in Environmental Change. Project teams must involve national research teams based in at least three different countries (Brazil, China, France, Japan, and USA). Small and large projects are welcome.
