UNESCO Institute for Water Education — Masters Fellowships
Located in the Netherlands, UNESCO-IHE offers six scholarships for the Water Cooperation and Diplomacy master’s programme. The objective of the program is to train future water managers and other professionals to address competition over water. Eligibility extends to existing and future water professionals from Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. The scholarship will cover educational fees, however, successful applicants will be required to fund up to approximately US$5 thousand for living costs and flights. UK Government — Sustainable Forestry
The Forest Governance, Markets and Climate (FGMC) programme will provide grants for projects that support governance and market reforms that reduce the illegal use of forest resources. Projects should focus on eliminating illegal logging, promoting legal trade and ensuring the rights and benefits for poor people, local communities and indigenous people who depend on forests for their livelihoods. Geographical focus is South East / East Asia and the Mekong region (Indonesia, Myanmar and China), West Africa (Ghana, Liberia), Congo Basin (Republic of Congo, Cameroon) and Guyana. Eligible organisations are non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and UK-based non-profit organisations. Funding for projects varies from £500 thousand to £1 million. Asian Institute of Technology — Masters Scholarships in Energy and Environment
The Asian Institute of Technology invites applications for the Loom Nam Khong Pijai Scholarships for masters degree programs in infrastructure development; energy technology; oil, gas, and natural resources development; and environmental engineering and management. Eligibility extends to nationals of Thailand, Myanmar, Lao PDR, Cambodia, Vietnam and China (Yunnan and Guangxi Provinces). Each scholarship covers tuition and registration fees, accommodation, and a bursary for living expenses at AIT‘s residential campus in Thailand for the 22 months of the masters program. Oriental Bird Club — Bird Conservation in Asia
The OBC Conservation Fund makes grants for bird conservation in Asia. Grant-making priorities are projects that benefit globally threatened bird species; that conserve threatened bird habitats; and that are led by Asian residents. Small Conservation Awards are up to £1,500 for projects of 12-18 months, with applications before 31 March of each year. German Federal Ministry of Education and Research — International Disaster and Risk Management
The German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) announces the IKARIM – Call for Proposals. The IKARIM grant aims to jointly develop and implement innovative and application-oriented solutions in the fields of disaster prevention, disaster management and restoration in order to strengthen the resilience of the partnering countries against natural and technical risks. International co-operations with selected African and Asian countries are an essential part of this call. Focus countries are Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, Cameroon, Madagascar, South Africa, Tunisia, Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, and Vietnam. Netherlands Fellowship Program — KOP Funding for Short Courses
The Netherlands Fellowship Program has started a new phase under the name KOP (Kennisontwikkelings programma). The first round of KOP offers scholarships for short courses in the Netherlands to applicants from the following countries: Albania, Armenia, Bhutan, Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, Cuba, Djibouti, Dem Rep Congo, Georgia, India, Jordan, Lebanon, Macedonia, Mongolia, Nepal, Nicaragua, Nigeria, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, Senegal, Somalia, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Surinam, Thailand, and Zimbabwe. The subject areas for short courses include many in agriculture and environment, among others. Applicants in participating countries study the course database to find short courses eligible for scholarships. The profile of each course identifies the application deadline and how to apply to the Dutch university, including contact information. International Institute of Education — Indigenous Biocultural Exchange Fund
The Indigenous Biocultural Exchange Fund provides up to US$5 thousand to indigenous individuals to attend global biocultural exchanges or meetings which impact the applicant’s home territory or region. Applicants must be indigenous or members of a local indigenous community. Additional preference will be given to women and youth. The fund is especially for, but not limited to, indigenous individuals in the following regions: African Rift Valley; Central Asia and Turkey; Southwest U.S. and Northern Mexico; Northern Australia; and Melanesia. European Commission — ERANETMED Research on Environment in the Mediterranean Region, 3rd Joint Call
Europe’s ERA-NET promotes the coordination of research at national and regional levels in the EU’s member states and associated states through research networking and the mutual opening of national and regional research programs. The current call by ERANETMED focuses on sustainable water management for vulnerable communities in the Euro-Mediterranean countries. Participating countries are Algeria, Cyprus, Egypt, France, Germany, Italy, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Portugal, Spain, Tunisia, and Turkey. ARIMNet2 — Call for Young Researchers
The EC’s ARIMNet is a consortium to support integrated and trans-disciplinary research that enhances the contribution of agricultural and food systems for sustainable social and economic development in the Mediterranean Basin. The ARIMNet2 2017 Joint Call is dedicated to young researchers in two topics: promoting sustainable agriculture for socio-economic development; and valorising local products through food value chains improvement. The participating countries are Algeria, Croatia, Egypt, France, Morocco, Slovenia, Spain, Tunisia, and Turkey. A project consortium must include at least three young researchers from three different participating countries (at least one from a northern country and one from a southern country). The submission period is 16 August 2017 until 14 September 2017. Link
