Global Forest Watch (GFW) is an interactive online forest monitoring and alert system designed to empower people with the information they need to better manage and conserve forest landscapes. GFW invites applications for its Technology Fellowship. Through the program, GFW seeks innovators, journalists, conservationists, campaigners, law enforcement officers, scientists, and indigenous leaders who are committed to expanding their forest monitoring experience and sharing this knowledge. The ASEAN Senior Officials Meeting on Youth (SOMY) announces the 5th ASEAN Youth Video Contest (AYVC) focused on the theme “Renewable Energy: Powering ASEAN’s Bright Future”. Young ASEAN filmmakers are invited to submit a 60-second video on the theme “Renewable Energy” showcasing what renewable energy sources mean to the future of youth and the region. The competition is open to amateur filmmakers (18 to 30 years old) from Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. 10 selected finalists will participate in a video production workshop in Hanoi, Vietnam (April 2019). The Innovate Green Competition (IGC) is a cooperative initiative that aims to stimulate entrepreneurship within university students in the MENA region. One member from each of the top three finalists will be invited to the 4th UN Environment Assembly (UNEA-4) in Nairobi (March 2019). The winners receive cash prizes of up to US$10 thousand. Czech Academy of Sciences — Studentship in Tropical Ecology
The Ecology Department at the Biology Center of the Czech Academy of Science and the Zoology Department of the University of South Bohemia invite PhD applicants to join a project exploring plant-herbivore interactions in the lowland rainforest in Papua New Guinea. The selected candidate will live in Czech Republic, conduct field work in New Guinea, and carry out the chemistry analysis with collaborators in Germany, Finland and the US.
