Global Forest Watch (GFW) is an interactive online forest monitoring and alert system designed to empower people with the information they need to better manage and conserve forest landscapes. GFW invites applications for its Technology Fellowship. Through the program, GFW seeks innovators, journalists, conservationists, campaigners, law enforcement officers, scientists, and indigenous leaders who are committed to expanding their forest monitoring experience and sharing this knowledge. Selected Fellows will participate in regular online meetings, trainings and receive a stipend of US$6 thousand. The ChangemakerXchange Summit in Spain will bring together 25 top young changemakers across civil society, media, the corporate sector, government, and more. The aim of the summit is to build a cross-sectoral network of changemakers that work together to address societal issues in a collaborative manner. Eligibility extends to participants who lead, co-lead, have founded, or have co-founded an ongoing social venture that addresses a relevant social problem, including in the theme of Environment (among others). Applicants should be based in Europe (including Turkey, European Russia and Southern Caucasus, Armenia, Georgia & Azerbaijan) or the MENA region (including Maghreb, North Africa, Middle East). The ASEAN Senior Officials Meeting on Youth (SOMY) announces the 5th ASEAN Youth Video Contest (AYVC) focused on the theme “Renewable Energy: Powering ASEAN’s Bright Future”. Young ASEAN filmmakers are invited to submit a 60-second video on the theme “Renewable Energy” showcasing what renewable energy sources mean to the future of youth and the region. The competition is open to amateur filmmakers (18 to 30 years old) from Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. 10 selected finalists will participate in a video production workshop in Hanoi, Vietnam (April 2019). Innovate Green Competition — Addressing Environmental Challenges in the MENA region
The Innovate Green Competition (IGC) is a cooperative initiative that aims to stimulate entrepreneurship within university students in the MENA region. Individuals or groups of up to 3 university students with innovative solutions addressing environmental challenges are invited to apply to the competition. One member from each of the top three finalists will be invited to the 4th UN Environment Assembly (UNEA-4) in Nairobi (March 2019). The winners receive cash prizes of up to US$10 thousand. African Academy of Sciences — Climate Research for Development in Africa
The African Academy of Sciences (AAS), the UK Department for International Development (DFID) Weather and Climate information SERvices for Africa (WISER) and the Africa Climate Policy Centre (ACPC) announce an initiative to support Africa-led climate science research through the Climate Research for Development (CR4D) in Africa initiative. CR4D will award 1-year research grants to 15 African climate researchers of up to US$130 thousand.
