The Equator Prize 2025 recognizes innovative initiatives that showcase how action on nature, led by Indigenous Peoples and local communities, can provide effective climate solutions, and demonstrate effective pathways to transform the global systems for people and Planet. Nominated projects may focus on solutions for sustainable food systems, restoration of ecosystems that help communities adapt to the impacts of climate change, or protection of terrestrial or marine ecosystems, biodiversity, and wildlife. West African Research Association — Scholar Mobility Fellowship
The WARA Scholar Mobility Fellowship supports young West African scholars for research visits to other institutions on the continent. The fellowship program will award one predoctoral grant of US$4,000 for travel to West Africa to conduct research. The program is open to West African nationals, with preference given to those affiliated with West African colleges, universities, and research institutions. Africa Carbon Removal Accelerator — Carbon Removal in Africa
The Africa Carbon Removal Accelerator (ACRA) is a six-month program designed to support startups in Sub-Saharan Africa focused on carbon dioxide removal (CDR) solutions. The program provides expert-led training, access to a CDR-focused community, and insights into the latest research on sustainable carbon removal technologies. Participants will connect with key stakeholders, including policymakers, investors, and verification bodies, to strengthen their business models and scale their solutions. The program is open to startups across Sub-Saharan Africa, with a focus on those that demonstrate strong scientific, technological, and business potential. Canada Fund for Local Initiatives — Community Projects in Paraguay
The Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI) invites proposals that meet the needs of local communities in Paraguay. CFLI provides funding to projects that implement environment and climate action projects focusing on adaptation and mitigation. The average contribution for each project is C$25 thousand to C$35 thousand. Eligibility extends to not-for-profit local, national, or community-based organizations. Royal Geographical Society — Grants with Deadlines in February 2025
The RGS-IBG offers a number of grants for graduate and post-graduate geography research in an international context. Grants range from £250 to £30 thousand. Many awards are restricted to nationals of the UK and EU, and/or students at UK universities. Mohamed bin Zayed Species Conservation Fund — Grants in Support of Endangered and Critically Endangered Species
The Mohamed bin Zayed Species Conservation Fund makes grants to individuals, communities, and organizations for the conservation of threatened or poorly known animal, plant, and fungi species worldwide. The Fund uses the IUCN Red List as the primary guide to the conservation status of a given species, although documented variations for sub-species, distinct populations, and subpopulations will be taken into account. Earth Journalism Network — Story Grants Asia Pacific
The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) offers story grants to support the production of in-depth solutions-focused media reports on environmental and climate challenges in the Asia-Pacific region. We welcome stories on scalable and replicable solutions that build community resilience to climate change and environmental degradation. The Network accepts applications from journalists residing in low- and middle-income countries in South Asia, East Asia and the Pacific.
