Johns Hopkins University — Science Writing Fellowship

The Johns Hopkins Science Writing Fellowship aims to improve science journalism and science itself by providing reporting grants for feature-length magazine articles. Grants will support articles that reveal flaws in current science policy, practice, or funding and identify ways these challenges might be overcome. The Good Science Project–Johns Hopkins MA in Science Writing Fellowship will award four grants each year. Grant funds will be distributed in two installments: US$2,500 when the grant is awarded and US$2,500 upon submission of a polished final draft. Awardees can use the funds to cover living expenses and reporting costs, including travel, and are not required to track or submit expenses. Catholic Relief Services — International Development c

The Catholic Relief Services (CRS) invites individuals dedicated to a career in international relief & development work to apply for the International Development Fellows Program. Fellows receive training and support CRS’ work in various sectors such as agriculture/livelihoods, health, water and sanitation, emergency response, or micro-financing. The Catholic Relief Services offers 20-30 fellowships each year. Each fellow is placed in one of CRS’ overseas country programs for a 12-month fellowship. German Academic Exchange Service — In-Region Southeast Asia Scholarships

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and SERCA offer MS and PhD scholarships in agriculture at partner universities in Southeast Asia. The scholarship is open to nationals from Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, Malaysia, Philippines, Timor-Leste, Thailand, and Vietnam planning to pursue graduate studies in development-related fields. The scholarship covers tuition, study and research allowance, food and accommodation, in-region travel, and insurance. The deadline for application is 20 November 2024. DAAD Scholarship

Social Science Research Council — Next Generation Social Sciences in Africa 2025

The Social Science Research Council offers Individual Research Fellowships to support research and analysis on peacebuilding. Past topics have included some related to climate change and land issues. Fellowships support six months of field-based research through a stipend of up to US$15 thousand. Applicants must be African citizens currently residing in an African country while holding a current faculty position at an accredited college or university. European Space Agency — Earth Observation Africa

The African Research Fellowship (ARF) program aims at empowering African Researchers (PhD or Master’s degree) to carry out Earth Observation R&D activities. Candidates shall propose a 1-year research and development proposal contributing to water resources management or food security issues in Africa. Proposals focusing on smallholder needs (e.g. farming, agricultural water use, irrigation systems, etc.) or related to coastal processes (e.g. ecosystems, coastal waters, coastal urbanization, etc.) and fisheries. World Wildlife Fund — Food Systems Fellowship

The WWF Russell E. Train Education for Nature Program (EFN) invites applications from researchers to pursue graduate-level studies geared towards research that cultivates a better understanding of the place-based nature of food systems and transformation. The fellowship is open to nationals of Belize, Bhutan, Bolivia, Brazil, Cambodia, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chile, Colombia, Dem. Republic of Congo, Ecuador, Fiji, French Guiana, Gabon, Guatemala, Guyana, Honduras, Indonesia, Kenya, Laos, Madagascar, Malaysia, Mozambique, Myanmar, Namibia, Nepal, Paraguay, Peru, Republic of Congo, Suriname, Tanzania, Uganda, Vietnam, and Zambia. IHE Delft Institute for Water Education — International Master of Science in Environmental Technology and Engineering

IHE Delft welcomes applications from international and EU candidate students seeking admission to the International Master of Science in Environmental Technology and Engineering (IMETE). The next intake of IMETE students will be in September 2024. Studies will take place in 3 different European countries. The European Union will offer full scholarships on a competitive basis. Asia Foundation — Leadership Program U.S./Asia

The Asia Foundation seeks applications to the “LeadNext: Ambassadors for a Global Future” program. LeadNext Fellows focus on creative approaches to addressing issues such as climate change, inequality, injustice, poverty, or other pressing issues. Fellows meet 1-3 times a week over several weeks to build competencies in social change leadership. All program expenses including travel, housing, and food are provided at no cost to fellows. Mastercard Foundation — Scholarships for Africans at University of Cambridge

The Mastercard Foundation funds economically disadvantaged students from Sub-Saharan Africa to study at the University of Cambridge. The fields of study include different areas of sciences and STEM fields; and many others. The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program covers the cost of travel and visas, accommodation, meals, allowance for a laptop, health cover, and a living stipend – as well as tuition costs. These scholarships cover the full period of study and are renewable annually. The scholarship application has to be submitted no later than 05 December 2024. Know more

Smithsonian Institution — Resilience and Sustainability Science Postdoctoral Fellowship

Smithsonian seeks to support up to five post-doctoral fellows as they conduct independent research in support of the Smithsonian’s goals to understand and expand resilience. These fellows will be able to leverage the Smithsonian’s resources, including its scientists, collections, exhibits, and data sets, to advance scientific understanding of resilience and sustainability in either marine or terrestrial systems. Recipients will receive a stipend of $62 thousand per year for Postdoctoral Fellows. Stipends are prorated for periods of less than 24 months. A maximum research allowance of $10 thousand is available for the fellowship period. The fellowship program is open to qualified applicants worldwide.
