Innovative Methods and Metrics for Agriculture and Nutrition Actions (IMMANA) is a research initiative with the aim to stimulate the development of innovative methodological approaches in agriculture and food systems for improved health and nutrition. IMMANA awards post-doctoral fellowships to emerging leaders who are applying and/or validating new methodological approaches in ongoing research programs in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). The fellowship includes a research stipend, a travel allowance, and an honorarium for mentors. Fellows conduct their research in Africa or Asia under the joint supervision of two mentors. Udaan Youth Club Tyodhi — YouthLeadG20 Fellowship Program
The YouthLeadG20 Fellowship Program is a virtual forum for young changemakers to share their opinion around the possibilities of India’s G20 Presidency and youth-related focus areas, including Climate Change and Disaster Risk Reduction, among others. Selected fellows will be promoted to YouthLeadG20 ambassador in their countries, certification and direct consideration for similar opportunities. KU Leuven — Global Minds Doctoral Scholarships Programme
KU Leuven is the largest university in Flanders, Belgium. As one part of its cooperation to advance international development, KU Leuven offers Global Minds Scholarships to candidates from developing countries. Global Minds is a ‘sandwich’ system, which means that 50% of the research takes place at KU Leuven and 50% at the home institution of the scholar. The scholarships have a duration of 48 months. European Commission — Zukunftskolleg Konnect Fellowships for Early-Career Researchers
The European Commission, through the Euraxess initiative, offers the Zukunftskolleg Konnect Fellowships to support early-career researchers from Africa, Asia and Latin America. ZUKOnnect aims to extend research networks and environments through on-campus research stays at thirteen departments of the University of Konstanz. Subject areas include ecology, limnology, ecotoxicology, botany, amongst many others. The fellowship offers a stipend of €1,200/month for doctoral students and €2,000/month for postdoctoral researchers, as well as travel expenses and access to resources and events. The Institute of Current World Affairs (ICWA) makes grants to support fellows who carry out self-designed independent studies for a minimum of two years in the developing world. Curtin University — PhD Stipends in Marine Bioacoustics
The Centre for Marine Science and Technology at Curtin University offers 4 PhD stipends in marine bioacoustics. The stipends are part of a 4-year research project entitled “The Quieter Western Indian Ocean” (QWIO). Each stipend includes an international tuition fee scholarship for 3.5 years. In addition, the stipend covers annual living costs (total €31 thousand). Students would ideally be citizens of Comoros, France, Kenya, Madagascar, Mauritius, Mozambique, Seychelles, Somalia, Tanzania, or South Africa. The Sino-Dutch Bilateral Exchange Scholarship is a Dutch-Chinese scholarship program for Dutch and Chinese students. Each student is offered a scholarship to study or do research in the Netherlands for at least one academic year. The scholarship consists of a contribution of €16 thousand per year towards the total costs of a study or research. The scholarship program focuses on 3rd-year bachelor, master or PhD students. Alfred Wegner Institute — Training in Observational Oceanography
The Alfred Wegner Institute hosts the Nippon Foundation-POGO Centre of Excellence. The program provides training and career development in observational oceanography, using facilities at Helgoland and Sylt in the North Sea. The next training program is open to participants from developing and emerging countries. Trainees must have at least a first degree in science. Preference will be given to applicants who currently hold a position in a research or academic institution in a developing country, and who anticipate returning to the country after completion of the training. Asia Research Institute — Asian Graduate Student Fellowship
The Asia Research Institute (ARI) invites applications from citizens of Asian countries for the Asian Graduate Student Fellowship. This opportunity includes a virtual fellowship and an in-person fellowship. Selected participants will undergo an intensive six-week program of independent research, training in academic writing, and mentorship meetings. Participants will take part in an intensive course on English academic writing. Wild Animal Initiative — Fellowship Program
Wild Animal Initiative invites early-career scientists to apply to a fellowship program. Fellowships are offered to individuals to conduct wild animal welfare research that is explicitly focused on combining animal welfare and the study of wild animals. Wild Animal Initiative offers a stipend of up to US$60 thousand per year for salary and living expenses. Eligible candidates can request an additional allowance of up to US$25 thousand per year for field work, consumables and other research related costs.
