In collaboration with UNESCO, the World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) sponsors a PhD Scholarship for up to 40 students/scholars from developing countries to study in China for up to 4 years. Swedish Institute — Scholarships for Global Professionals
The Swedish Institute (SI) provides fully-funded international scholarships for master’s studies in Sweden. The scholarship for global professionals aims to develop future global leaders who will contribute to the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and contribute to positive and sustainable development in their home countries. The scholarship is intended for full-time one-year or two-year master’s programs. SI fully covers tuition fees and makes regular payments of SEK12 thousand to cover living expenses throughout the scholarship. The application portal will close on 26 February 2025. Universities Federation for Animal Welfare — Animal Welfare Student Scholarship
Animal Welfare Student Scholarships enable students to develop their interests in animal welfare science. Students are encouraged to carry out their own projects (whether research or educational) with the aim of contributing to our growing knowledge of how best to assess, or improve, the welfare of animals (for example, farm animals, animals in zoos, pets, or wild animals). Projects may be carried out anywhere in the world. Applications are welcome from undergraduate or MSc students. Support is provided for up to 8 weeks up to a maximum of £2,800. The Rotary Foundation partners with UNESCO to offer funding for master’s studies in water and sanitation. Applicants for Rotary’s support must be provisionally admitted to one of the three participating degree programs at UNESCO’s Institute for Water Education (IHE). Students apply via their local Rotary club or district. Each award is approximately €34 thousand, paid directly to UNESCO-IHE. Climate Tracker — Climate Journalism Mentorship Program
Climate Tracker invited applications for the Climate Journalism Mentoring Program, exclusive to Latin America. Journalists from Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Peru, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Honduras, Mexico, and Venezuela will publish stories on the impact of the climate crisis in the region, with a focus on the transition to fair energy. The Social Science Research Council (SSRC) offers fellowships to African researchers, policy analysts, and practitioners working on conflict and peace-building issues. The posted list of issues includes natural resource conflicts and water conflicts. The fellowships are intended to support six months of field-based research with grants of up to US$15 thousand. Johns Hopkins University — Science Writing Fellowship
The Johns Hopkins Science Writing Fellowship aims to improve science journalism and science itself by providing reporting grants for feature-length magazine articles. Grants will support articles that reveal flaws in current science policy, practice, or funding and identify ways these challenges might be overcome. The Good Science Project–Johns Hopkins MA in Science Writing Fellowship will award four grants each year. Grant funds will be distributed in two installments: US$2,500 when the grant is awarded and US$2,500 upon submission of a polished final draft. Awardees can use the funds to cover living expenses and reporting costs, including travel, and are not required to track or submit expenses.
