IDEX Accelerator — IDEX Fellowship 2022
The IDEX Fellowship Program aims to build the capacity of young professionals for social enterprise in areas such as agriculture, education, clean energy, sanitation, healthcare, livelihoods, and impact investing. The program provides six months of leadership training in enterprise development, including field placements at social enterprises in India. Candidates should be 21 to 35 years old, with a minimum of one to three years of professional work experience. UK National Research Foundation — Research Grants, Fellowships, and Scholarships
The UK National Research Foundation (NRF) makes research grants and scholarships to students worldwide (but mainly South African citizens) to pursue studies in all areas of Science, Engineering, Technology, Social Sciences and Humanities. The allocation of funds is demand-driven. There is no maximum or minimum proposal request. The NRF makes one call for proposals starting in February of each year. Please note that institutions set their own much earlier internal closing dates for applications, therefore, applicants must check the deadlines of each individual program very carefully. Climate Tracker — Solutions Reporting Fellowship
Climate Tracker seeks early-career journalists with a passion for a 6-month paid media mentorship-fellowship. Selected fellows will write and publish powerful sustainability stories focused on local solutions in their country/region, and receive coaching and mentoring from experts to gain hands-on experience in reporting on climate change and sustainability issues. Florence School of Regulation — Scholarship for Women in Energy
The Florence School of Regulation (FSR) supports eight women around the globe working in energy. The Lights on Women Scholarship provides scholarships to women contributing to innovative solutions, research, and initiatives that accelerate a sustainable, resilient, and just energy transition. UK Royal Society — Newton International Fellowships 2021
The Newton International Fellowships support early-stage post-doctoral researchers from all over the world to work at UK research institutions for a period of two years. The scheme covers the broad range of the natural and social sciences and the humanities. Applicants should have a clearly defined and mutually-beneficial research proposal with a UK host scientist. The announcement identifies additional criteria for applicants. Funding consists of £24 thousand per annum for subsistence costs, and up to £8 thousand per annum research expenses, as well as a one-off payment of up to £3,5 thousand for relocation expenses. WASCAL — Master Research in Informatics for Climate Change
The Master Research Program in Informatics for Climate Change (MRP-INFORMCC) is implemented at the Université Joseph KI-ZERBO (Burkina Faso) and provides training in scientific computation and climate data management in West Africa. The West African Science Service Center on Climate Change and Adapted Land Use (WASCAL) offers full scholarships to students from 11 West African countries. Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung — Scholarships for International Master Students
The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung awards scholarships to international master students and graduates in order to enable study and research at universities in Germany. Each year new focus countries or regions are determined for the selection procedures. In 2021, the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung will focus on Russia, Ukraine, Turkey and Latin America. The scholarship is aimed at students and graduates under the age of 30 who have acquired a university degree and who intend to complete postgraduate or master studies, doctoral studies or a research stay of at least three semesters at a university in Germany. Graduates receive a monthly scholarship of € 850, PhD-students receive € 1.200, plus health insurance and family allowance. Please note that the scholarship seminar program is held in German, therefore, a sufficient knowledge of the German language (level B2) is obligatory even if the courses are taught in English. Deutsches Museum in Munich — Scholar-in-Residence Program
The Deutsches Museum in Munich offers scholarships to research scholars interested in working for 6-12 months on projects involving the museum’s collections. The museum for innovative research focuses on scientific processes and the changing cultures of technology including Natural Sciences, such as Astronomy, Nanotechnology and Biotechnology. Applicants have to base their projects on the collections of the Deutsches Museum and cooperate closely with museum staff when formulating their research proposals. The museum offers two types of scholar-in residence stipends: Pre-doctoral stipends of €7,500 (six months) or €15 thousand (full year); and Post-doctoral stipends of €15 thousand (six months) or €30 thousand (full year). Climate Tracker — Drylands Journalism Fellowship
Climate Tracker gives young journalists from Africa the opportunity to receive training, attend and cover Global Landscapes Forum 2021 (June 2021). The digital conference focused on Africa’s drylands and how integrative restoration practices. 5 journalists will receive a storytelling grant to produce more in-depth pieces, as a follow-up from the conference.
