Pathways: Human Dimensions of Wildlife is a conference and training program designed to address human-wildlife conflict issues. The Salmon Community Scholarship offers a limited number of scholarships to attend Pathways 2021 (19-22 September, USA). The scholarship covers the full cost of registration (US$300 for students, US$550 for non-students). Applicants must demonstrate ability to cover the remainder of their costs not covered by the scholarship (lodging, travel, incidentals, etc.). The scholarship is open to individuals worldwide closely impacted by the issues of salmon recovery and the financial hardships created by the COVID-19 pandemic. Southern Africa Climate Finance Partnership — Postgraduate Scholarships Climate Finance
The Southern Africa Climate Finance Partnership (SACFP) is a knowledge sharing and capacity enhancement platform for southern African countries seeking access to international climate finance in order to mobilize investments into climate resilient development. SACFP invites postgraduate students to apply for scholarships to undertake research-based degrees focused on climate finance. Applicants must present a MSc or PhD thesis topic related to climate finance. The 2-year PhD scholarship award will be calculated based on the eligible expenses of the field of study. German Academic Exchange Service — In-Region Eastern Africa Scholarships 2021/2022
The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) offers PhD scholarships in Agricultural Economics at 17 participating universities in 13 countries in Eastern, Central and Southern Africa. Fields of specialization covered in the program include Agricultural and Rural Development, Agricultural Policy and Trade, Environment and Natural Resource Management, and Agribusiness Management. The scholarship covers tuition, study and research allowance, food and accommodation, in-region travel, and insurance for up to a maximum of three years. The Centre for Research on Ecology and Forestry Applications (CREAF) invites applications for the “La Caixa” Scholarships as part of the INPhINIT Fellowship Program. The program offers 35 doctoral scholarships for research to be carried out in a multidisciplinary and international research team. The Nature Conservancy invites applications for the NatureNet Science Fellows program. The program awards 2-year fellowships to promising early-career scientists and engineers who seek to improve and expand their research on climate change and the loss of biodiversity. Fellows will work with a Nature Conservancy mentor and a hosting senior scholar(s) at one of the partner universities. Research stipends range from US$74 thousand (graduate fellowship) to US$118 (PhD fellowship) over two years, plus travel funding and a research budget. The Mickey Leland International Hunger Fellows Program is a two-year international fellowship to develop leaders committed to finding lasting solutions to hunger and poverty. Leland Fellows must be U.S. citizens or permanent legal residents. The fellowship provides the financial support for one year of international service, followed by another year of policy work. The financial package is provided based on cost of living data for each placement location. Fellows are placed with international and local NGOs, U.S. government agencies, multilateral organizations, and private sector entities. Some fellows are placed abroad to work on projects in developing countries. The host organizations are responsible for providing meaningful work and supervision to the fellow. Climate Tracker — Southeast Asia Media Research Fellowship
Climate Tracker seeks young researchers with media experience to explore the green transition from COVID-19 in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Vietnam. The aim of the research project is to help develop a clearer understanding of the region’s media coverage of this theme and will involve interviews with several journalists to identify their challenges, needs for support, and capacity building.
