West African Science Service Center on Climate Change and Adapted Land Use — Master’s Program Climate Change & Marine Sciences

With funding provided by Germany, WASCAL engages in research to help tackle the severe challenges posed by climate change, focusing on West Africa. The WASCAL Graduate Studies Program offers full scholarships to support four master’s and six doctoral programs implemented at ten universities in West African countries. WASCAL’s member countries are Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Gambia, Ghana, Niger, Mali, Nigeria, Senegal, and Togo. Doctoral students may spend up to six months at a host institution in Germany. Graduate students have access to the WASCAL research facilities located in various watersheds of West Africa. Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture — Full Master’s and PhD Scholarships 2020

Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA) offers scholarships for PhD and Master studies. The scholarships are intended for graduate and postgraduate students from Southeast Asia who are regular employees of academic or research institutions or government agencies. Areas of specialization include: Agricultural/Biological sciences, Agro-industrial Technology,  Environmental Sciences, Forestry and Fisheries, among others. The scholarship covers tuition and other school fees; travel allowance; thesis/dissertation support; book and supplies allowance; health insurance; and stipend for food, lodging and incidental expenses. WASCAL — Master’s Program on Climate Change and Marine Sciences

The Technical University of Atlantic (Cabo Verde) seeks applications for its Master’s Program on Climate Change and Marine Sciences (MP-CCMS). The West African Science Service Center on Climate Change and Adapted Land Use (WASCAL) offers scholarships to African MSc students. The program includes English language training for participants from Francophone countries, three semesters of joint Master’s courses, shipboard training, and a scientific trip to a German partner institution. To eligible for this scholarship, applicants must be citizens of Benin, Burkina Faso, Cabo Verde, Côte d’Ivoire, Gambia, Ghana, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, or Togo. Humboldt University — Yousef Jameel Scholarship Fund 2020-2021

The Yousef Jameel Scholarship Fund at Humboldt University annually awards five scholarships for doctoral studies in the natural sciences to applicants from Arabic countries. The program seeks applicants in the disciplines of sustainable desert agriculture; plant-based medicine; and renewable energy. The stipend awarded is €1340 per month, plus material expenses. Applicants should have good written and spoken English, as well as communications skills in German. Applications from qualified women are particularly encouraged. Environmental Law Institute — International Fellowship Program

The Environmental Law Institute invites applications for the Jim Rubin International Fellowship. The Fellowship Program is aimed at early-career environmental lawyers. It provides mentorship and financial aid to fellows so they can conduct legal research, analysis, writing, and editing on a focused project. Preference will be given to candidates from developing countries that have a legal degree (LL.B, JD, SJD, or LLM equivalent). The application deadline is 17 April 2020. Details

German Academic Exchange Service — Scholarships for Costa Rican University Professors

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) offers scholarships for master and doctorate students to expand their training in Germany. Eligibility extends to Costa Rican university professors (max. 38 years of age) graduated from the University of Costa Rica (UCR ), Technological Institute of Costa Rica (TEC), University National (UNA), or the Distance State University (UNED). Scholarships are €1000 per month, plus international travel expenses, and other expenses related to the education. Applications have to be submitted by 31 August 2020. Find out more

Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture — PhD Research Scholarship

The Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA) offers scholarships for PhD studies in agriculture, natural resources, and related fields. Research funds do not to exceed US$4,500. SEARCA offers an optional 2-month internship. SEARCA prioritizes Southeast Asian nationals who are enrolled in PhD programs in a member university, however, the program is also open to applications who are regular staff members of government agencies or non-profit development-oriented institutions. International Water Center — Australia Awards Scholarship (Indo-Pacific region)

Australia’s International Water Center provides funding for international students from the Indo-Pacific region. Scholarship recipients can to undertake full time undergraduate or postgraduate studies in Master of Integrated Water Management or Master of Catchment Science at participating Australian universities. Australia Awards alumni are expected to leave Australia after completing their scholarship and contribute to the development of their home countries. The application deadline is 30 April 2020. Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Fund — PhD Studies in India in Ecology and Environment

The Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Fund offers scholarships to Indian nationals and nationals of other Asian countries for doctoral studies at universities in India. Areas of specialization include ecology and environment (among others). Scholarship applicants must already be admitted for a Ph.D. degree at a recognized institution of higher education in India. Students will receive a maintenance allowance, including tuition fee, of Rs.18 thousand per month. The application period to the Fund is April-May, with a deadline of 31 May each year. Link

United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization — Fellowships at Chinese Universities

UNESCO and the China Scholarship Council announce the availability of 75 fellowships under “The Great Wall Program” for advanced undergraduate and postgraduate studies at Chinese universities. Applications are invited from eligible developing UNESCO member states in Africa, the Asia–Pacific region, Latin America and Caribbean, the Arab States, and Europe and North America. Fellowships are for one year, and most fellowship programs are in English. Among the many participating Chinese universities that admit scholarship students are some that offer agriculture, forestry, environment, and other disciplines in natural resources.
