The Arab Council for the Social Sciences announces its fourth cycle of postdoctoral fellowships for junior Arab scholars. The program is open to individuals who completed their PhD within the past three years, and who are nationals or residents of countries in the League of Arab States. The fellowship provides for full costs over nine months in the proposed country/countries of residence where the fellow will reside. The thematic focus is open. African Union Commission — Pan African University Scholarships for Postgraduate Education 2017-2018
The Pan African University (PAU) seeks to develop institutions of excellence in science, technology, innovation, social sciences, and governance in Africa. The African Union offers the Pan African University Scholarship for masters and PhD degree programs at four PAU Institutes (in Algeria, Cameroon, Kenya, and Nigeria). Subject areas for the postgraduate educational programs include agriculture, water resources, arid lands management, energy, environmental management, and many others — varying among the PAU Institutes. ICAR announces thirty Netaji Subhas-ICAR international fellowships for doctoral degrees in agriculture and allied sciences at agricultural universities and institutions in India and abroad. RUFORUM announces support for seven staff exchanges at the Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources. Japan Society for the Promotion of Science — RONPAKU Fellowships for PhD Students 2018
The RONPAKU fellowships are a program of the JSPS to support students from Asia, the Middle East, and Africa to pursue PhD degrees at Japanese universities. Each fellow submits a research dissertation co-supervised by an advisor in Japan and an advisor in the fellow’s home country. The fellows do not pursue doctoral courses in Japan (i.e., dissertation only). RONPAKU will award about 20 fellowships across all subject areas. The application deadline is 25 August 2017 for submissions to RONPAKU from Japanese universities; applicants need to send their documents to their prospective Japanese advisors in advance of this deadline. United States – India Educational Foundation — Fulbright-Nehru Doctoral Research Fellowships
The Fulbright-Nehru Doctoral Research Fellowships are for Indian scholars who are registered for a Ph.D. at an Indian institution. The fellowships are for six to nine months at institutions in the USA in fields that include agricultural sciences; energy studies; urban and regional planning (with emphasis on smart cities and waste management); materials science (with emphasis on environmental applications); and others. UK Natural Environment Research Council — Fellowships in Green Urban Infrastructure
The UK’s NERC invites applications for Knowledge Exchange Fellowships that address issues and opportunities around green infrastructure in urban areas of the UK or developing countries. The objective is to influence local policymakers and businesses to support the development of urban green zones, urban ecosystem services, sustainable drainage systems, and other examples of green infrastructure. Eligibility to apply extends to applicants based in UK higher education institutions, and to NERC research centres and independent research organisations approved by NERC (if the science the work builds on was funded by NERC). Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey — Research Fellowships 2017
The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) awards research fellowships to international highly qualified PhD students and young postdoctoral researchers. Applicants should be non-Turkish citizens who are age 35 or younger. Preference is for candidates who have the potential to contribute to Turkey’s international cooperation in scientific and technological development. The fields of research collaboration include agricultural sciences, among others. The maximum length of the fellowship is 12 months. The application deadlines in 2017 are 06 March through 07 April, and from 05 September through 06 October. Link
Organization for Tropical Studies — Research Fellowship Program 2017
The OTS manages a research fellowship program to support field research in tropical biology and related fields. The program offers three types of awards: pilot awards for exploratory research; thesis research fellowships; and ECTS-GS fellowships. Most awards are restricted to three OTS field stations in Costa Rica. Exceptions are one annual fellowship for research at the Cocha Cashu field station in Peru, and the Hovore-Horn Entomology awards in any Latin American country. Proposals may be submitted in English or Spanish. The application deadlines are 01 March and 01 October. Link
