The Humboldt Residency Program offers participants the opportunity to cooperate on a common topic, generate new ideas, and communicate them to a broad audience. The topic for 2025 is “The Future of Food”. During the six-week residency in Brandenburg/Berlin, participants meet daily in shared working spaces and have the unique opportunity of extensive time and freedom to gain an in-depth understanding of each other’s work. Funding for participation in the Humboldt Residency Program includes a monthly allowance, travel allowance, accommodation, and a budget for arranging public event formats. Commonwealth Scholarship Commission — Commonwealth Shared Scholarships 2025
With funding from the UK’s Department for International Development, the Commonwealth Shared Scholarships are available to citizens of Commonwealth countries for master’s studies at UK universities, usually for one year. The participating academic programs include several subject areas such as environmental science and management, agroforestry, livestock management, remote sensing, disaster management, wetlands science, etc. The CSC lists the participating universities and their eligible courses. The Africa Scholarship Program (ASP) offers students from Africa the opportunity to pursue a Master’s degree at Wageningen University and to support capacity building in Africa. Students receive travel, living allowance, tuition fee coverage, visa costs, and costs for health insurance. Applicants have to be citizens of an African country and have applied for one of the master’s programs of Wageningen University & Research before the given deadline. Leakey Foundation — Fellowships for Paleoanthropology and Primatology Students
The Leakey Foundation makes the Franklin Mosher Baldwin Memorial Fellowships to help students from developing countries get advanced education and training in paleoanthropology and primatology. Applicants should already be enrolled or provisionally accepted in a graduate program related to human origins and evolution. A fellowship provides for two years of support. The maximum award is US$15 thousand per year. The program has an annual deadline for new applications, and a different application process and deadline to apply for second-year renewals. Ghent University — Special Research Fund
Ghent University grants PhD “sandwich” scholarships to promising PhD students from Global South countries who wish to carry out half of their PhD research at Ghent University. The candidate must have full-time funding for the other 24 months of research to be carried out in the South. Research proposals must be jointly submitted by a candidate, a supervisor at Ghent University, and a supervisor at the partner university. IHE Delft Institute for Water Education — Scholarship Program for South Africa
The IHE Delft/FirstRand Scholarship provides full funding for one South African student a year to study for an MSc in Water and Sustainable Development at the IHE Delft Institute for Water Education. Before applying for the scholarship, prospective students first need to apply and be admitted to the MSc in Water and Sustainable Development from IHE Delft. The University of Nottingham offers five scholarships of £10 thousand towards full-time masters tuition fees for international students from India, Mexico, Turkey, or Vietnam. United Nations — Indigenous Fellowship Program
The Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) Indigenous Fellowship Training Programme is open for applications. The aim of the program is to give Indigenous persons the opportunity to gain knowledge on the UN system and mechanisms dealing with human rights issues in general and Indigenous issues in particular. (Note: This may include land rights and biodiversity conservation issues). The Acumen Fellows Program supports social innovators from West Africa who are tackling issues of poverty and injustice within their community. The Fellowship consists of a fully-funded leadership program, where Fellows remain in their role while taking part in a series of immersive seminars, workshops, and group practice. Learning Planet Institute — Youth Design Challenge
The Learning Planet Youth Design Challenge is an annual global initiative encouraging young individuals aged 15-26 to pitch their ideas for innovative learning programs for their dream university. Participants can pitch programs on one of the following themes: Community Engagement, Socio-emotional Development, and Sustainability (planetary health and regenerative economy). The 12 finalists will receive regular mentorship from a global network of industries with the goal of implementing their programs. The winner receives US$1000.
