The project purpose is to improve food and nutrition security, increase income and improve livelihoods, promote an environmentally-sustainable development, focussing on smallholders and smallholders’ associations. Grants requested under this call for proposals must fall between €300 thousand and €700 thousand (depending on the focus of the proposed project). Innovation Grant Facility — Opportunity for Pacific Agro-SMEs
The Innovation Grant Facility (IGF) provides funding to agro-based small & medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in seven Pacific Island States: Fiji, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga and Vanuatu. Projects should focus on “Leveraging the Development of Local Food Crops and Fisheries Value Chains for Improved Nutrition and Sustainable Food Systems in the Pacific Islands” and be executed by SMEs that aim to grow their business and contribute, directly or indirectly, to the sustainable development of the agriculture and fishery sectors. The European Commission seeks proposals for projects based on innovative technologies and solutions for the blue economy. The estimated contribution per project is between €500 thousand and €1 million. Eligibility extends to private and public entities, or international organisations located in an EU Member State or projects with activities extending to neighbouring waters outside the territory of the EU (eligible countries and regions are listed in the call for proposals). Conservation International (CI) offers the Indigenous Leaders Conservation Fellowship to leaders from indigenous and traditional peoples. For the 2019-2020 fellowship year, the Indigenous Leaders Conservation Fellowship will support two distinct fellowship tracks: the Indigenous Women’s Fellowship and the Emerging Leaders Fellowship. The Eleanor Crook Foundation funds implementation research on cost-effective, scalable innovations designed to improve nutrition interventions in East Africa. The European Commission, under Horizon 2020, launches a call for proposals to fight nutritional imbalances in Africa. Proposals should assess and deliver better nutrition performance of African farming systems, strengthening the agro-biodiversity (including aquaculture systems) and food diversity. Agropolis Fondation — PhD Fellowships for Agriculture and Sustainable Development
The Agropolis Fondation and partners aim to create and strengthen a dynamic exchange between research and higher education institutions in France and Southeast Asia in the area of agriculture and sustainable development. Therefore, the Foundation will provide 8 PhD Fellowships to Southeast Asian students enrolled in universities in Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Indonesia (note: participating universities are mentioned in the call for proposals).
