USAID/Tanzania seeks applications for the program “Tanzania Improved Nutrition for Better Life”. The purpose of the program is to intensify and integrate nutrition support to targeted regions to improve the nutritional status of women, adolescents, and children in Tanzania. USAID intends to provide between US$15 – $19.7 million in total funding over a four year period for the achievement of the goals outlined in the call for proposals. ASEAN Impact Challenge — Accelerating the Achievement of Sustainable Development Goals
This regional programme is designed to discover innovators and strengthen new innovations from Southeast Asia. Categories are early-stage innovations (proposals, ideas, concepts and prototypes) and scale-stage innovation (proven social innovations with the potential and capacity to increase impact). Initiatives by participant teams have ranged from waste management, agriculture, and environment, among others. Engineers Without Borders Canada — Fellowship for African Social Entrepreneurs
Engineers Without Borders Canada (EWB) invites applications for the EWB Kumvana Fellowship 2019. The program gives African social entrepreneurs and changemakers the opportunity to foster collaborations with Canadian professionals. The Kumvana program consists of an 8-week online learning course, a one week African retreat, and a 1-month intensive Canadian experience. British Council — Africa-UK Trilateral Call
The National Research Foundation (NRF) and the British Council announce the Africa-UK Trilateral Call. The call aims to support African researchers to establish research excellence and collaboration between Africa-UK and a third African Country. Proposals are invited from eligible applicants for the DST-NRF/British Council Africa-UK Trilateral Chair. Proposals should focus on the following priorities: Food Security, Sustainable and Renewable Energy, Manufacturing for SMEs (including Agro-processing), Governance and conflict resolution related to development, and Cross-Cutting Themes. UK Arts and Humanities Research Council — Early Career Researcher Project Development Workshop
The GCRF programme launches a new funding scheme for Early Career Researchers (ECRs), supporting research that considers the relationship between young people and civil society organisations (CSO) in post-conflict countries. Over the course of the two-day workshop (25-26 October 2018 in London, UK), participants will develop their project ideas, receive critical feedback and insight from international peers and experts. After the workshop, participants will have 5 weeks to submit their application. (Note: Proposed projects may focus on one or more themes in the area of sustainable development in the categories of the Terra Viva Grants Directory.) ECR Grant Awards range from £15-£30 thousand. British Council — Newton-Mosharafa Science Innovation
The Newton-Mosharafa Fund supports British and Egyptian scientific researchers and innovators to find joint solutions to the challenges facing Egypt in economic development and social welfare through training and researcher mobility schemes. The five focus areas of the currently open call include sustainable water management, renewable energy, and sustainable food production; among two others. Global Partnership for Sustainable Development Data — Data for Development Projects 2018
The GPSDD seeks innovative proposals for data production, dissemination, and use. This year’s call is anchored around two themes: Scaling local data for impact and Fostering synergies between the communities. Smaller amounts of funding (starting at US$25 thousand) are made for riskier, unproven innovations at the pilot stage. Larger amounts of funding (up to US$250 thousand) will be awarded to proposals which have a clear justification. The pilot funding round will close on 15 August 2018. Link
Youth Peace Initiative — Peacebuilders Video Contest
The Youth Peace Initiative (YPI), together with the Carnegie Foundation and the United Network Of Young Peacebuilders, invites young filmmakers between 18 and 29 years to submit videos that highlight best practices and achievements of young grassroots peace activists (Note: This may include environmental peacebuilding). The best videos compete for the Youth Carnegie Peace Prize. The winner will be awarded with the title ‘Youth Ambassador of the Peace Palace’ during the One Young World Summit in The Hague (The Netherlands) in September/October 2018.
