UN Women partners with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to grant financing to African youth entrepreneurs to develop and implement their solutions to address gender specific development challenges in their communities. Winning entries will receive seed grants of US$ 5 thousand or scale grants of US$ 10 thousand to develop and test their innovations. The Commonwealth — Commonwealth Young Person of the Year 2019
The Commonwealth awards exceptional young people, including entrepreneurs, inventors, environmentalists, women’s rights advocates, and others, who are making a difference in their communities. Entrants must be aged 15 to 29 years and can nominate themselves or be nominated by someone else. This year’s finalists will receive a trophy, a certificate and cash grants to help them continue their development work. All finalists will be awarded £1,000. Each selected regional winner will receive an additional £2,000, and the Commonwealth Young Person of the Year will also receive an additional cash grant of £2,000. Coady International Institute — Women’s Leadership 2019
The Global Change Leaders Program is a seven-week education program to enable women from developing countries to strengthen their leadership capacities at the Coady Institute, affiliated with St Francis Xavier University in Canada. The program offers successful candidates a full scholarship that includes tuition, travel, accommodations, and meals. Applicants should have at least four years of demonstrated leadership experience in fields such as food security, environment, and others. The application deadline is 30 November 2018. Australian Government — Australian Aid: Friendship Grants 2018/19
The Australian Aid: Friendship Grants program supports organisations from across Australia and provides funding for aid activities in the Indo-Pacific. Eligible Australian community organisations are encouraged to apply for funding of AUD30-60 thousand in three annual grant rounds. The grants will fund development activities that strengthen an overseas community’s capacity or socio-economic situation and improve the lives of poor and vulnerable people. International Organization for Migration — Training Experience for Young Social Entrepreneurs
IOM and partners announce a call for applications to participate in the youth entrepreneurship pitching event “Start and Scale-up for SDGs”. The event will take place in Geneva (Switzerland) on 15 November 2018 as part of Global Entrepreneurship Week. Young entrepreneurs from around the world are invited to pitch business ideas that contribute to at least one of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). A selected panel of impact investors, sustainable finance specialists and other experts will then provide comprehensive feedback on the submissions. USAID seeks applications for a Cooperative Agreement from qualified entities to implement the “USAID/Senegal Feed the Future Fisheries, Biodiversity & Livelihoods (FBL)” Activity. U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration — Saltonstall-Kennedy Grants for Fisheries 2019
The Saltonstall-Kennedy program funds projects that address the needs of fishing communities, and that build and maintain sustainable fisheries. The focus areas in 2019 are marine aquaculture; adapting to environmental changes and other long-term impacts in the marine ecosystem; fisheries promotion, development, and marketing. The program is open to applicants in the USA, Marshall Islands, Micronesia, and Palau — with priority for applications from the fishing community, and that involve fishing community cooperation and participation. AAUW’s International Fellowship program provides support for women pursuing full-time graduate or postdoctoral study in the United States. Award amounts range from US$ 18-30 thousand for one year of study.
