The Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) is a program of the U.S. government to support bright young leaders ages 18-35 in the ASEAN countries. The YSEALI Academic Fellowships offer support to participate in a five-week institute on the campus of a U.S. university or college in one of the following topics: civil engagement; environmental issues; or social entrepreneurship and economic development. The fellowships include leadership development, an educational study tour, local community service activities, and opportunities to engage with peers in the USA. Applications are invited from current undergraduate or graduate students — as well as recent graduates — in Brunei, Burma, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. Application deadlines vary by country, Cambodia’s application process is currently open with deadline on 29 May 2018. The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) seeks organizations to co-create, co-design, co-invest, and collaborate on research and development innovations to prevent and treat nutrition vulnerabilities in complex environments. Areas of interest include innovations to maximize impact across sectors, including health, agriculture and humanitarian assistance. GHR Foundation — BridgeBuilder Competition
The GHR Foundation invites proposals that address urgent global challenges in radically new ways. The BridgeBuilder Challenge to invite solutions that connect peace, prosperity, and the planet. Submissions should target a specific, pressing, and solvable need across two or more of these themes. The competition is open to non-profit and for-profit organizations established for at least one year. Proposed projects should not be longer than three years. Awards are up to US$500 thousand. Arab Council for the Social Sciences — Postdoctoral Fellowships 2018-2019
The Arab Council for the Social Sciences announces its fifth cycle of postdoctoral fellowships for junior Arab scholars. The program is open to individuals who completed their PhD within the past three years, and who are nationals or residents of countries in the League of Arab States. The fellowship provides for full costs over nine months in the proposed country/countries of residence where the fellow will reside. The thematic focus is open. U.S. Department of State — Reducing Marine Litter
The U.S. Department of State seeks proposals for projects that use environmentally sustainable waste management and/or reduce the amount of abandoned, lost, or discarded fishing gear. Four grants of up to US$246,875 each will be awarded for work that will support efforts that help prevent marine litter from entering the ocean. U.S. Department of State — Sustainable Seafood in the Pacific Islands
The U.S. Department of State announces an open competition for organizations to submit applications to support Pacific Islands businesses in the fisheries/seafood sector to adopt sustainable and inclusive practices. The submitted program should leverage U.S. expertise in innovation, entrepreneurship, and investment to empower Pacific Islands businesses. Alice and Global Entrepreneurship Network — Global Pitch Competition for Social Entrepreneurs
Alice and Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN), along with partners Johnson & Johnson and Dell, invites applications for Pitch with Purpose, a global pitch competition for social enterprises centered around solutions to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Three finalists will be invited to pitch live in front of a panel of judges, funders and media in October 2018. The Government of Canada seeks preliminary proposals (stage I) under the Innovation for Women’s Economic Empowerment in Ghana call.
