India’s Department of Science and Technology (DST) and the Research Council of Norway (RCN) will jointly fund Indo-Norwegian research in mutually agreed fields. The current call in the field of bio-economy research will focus on the following topics: agriculture and land-based food; biotech; aquaculture; and bioenergy/biofuel. Joint proposals must be developed in cooperation between principal investigators representing a research institution in Norway and a research institution in India. Virginia Gildersleeve International Fund — Funding for Projects Led by Women 2018
VGIF provides grants up to US$7,500 for projects that are led by women, and that help empower women and girls in grassroots communities around the globe. Most grants are for one year. Past projects include examples in farming, kitchen gardens, water supply, and other aspects of sustaining local livelihoods. VGIF will accept letters of intent through 02 October 2017. Millennium Campus Network — Millennium Oceans Prize
The Millennium Oceans Prize encourages activism, social entrepreneurship, and research to champion advocacy and leadership for the oceans, freshwater systems, sustainable fishing, and marine conservation. Initiatives in sustainable fisheries will receive special consideration. Applicants for the Prize are college or undergraduate university students, ages 18 to 30, anywhere in the world. The winning competitor will be offered up to US$5 thousand to implement his/her campaign and an invitation to the Millennium Campus Conference in Morocco, November 2017. European Commission — Support for Fisheries in Albania
The EC announces funding to assist Albania to develop the capacity of its fishery administration to design, implement, enforce, and monitor the relevant policy measures and regulations. Besides support to the fishery administration, the action includes the design and implementation of an investment grant scheme to the fishing fleet to improve its efficiency. Eligibility for funding extends to government departments and other public bodies in EU member countries related to fishing. Research Council of Norway — International Cooperation in Aquaculture 2018
The Research Council of Norway funds international cooperation in its HAVBRUK2 program of aquaculture research. Funding is available for project establishment support for international projects; personal visiting researcher grants; and personal overseas research grants. Priority will be given to collaboration with researchers in the EU, USA, Canada, China, Japan, India, Chile, and Brazil. Collaboration with researchers in other countries will also be of interest. The New Zealand Partnerships for International Development Fund is a contestable fund open to New Zealand organizations. It aims to encourage partnerships between New Zealand organizations and in-country partners in the developing world, with emphasis on the Pacific region and Southeast Asia. Priority areas for support include agriculture, fisheries, tourism, energy, and water and sanitation — among others. The Fund encourages multi-activity projects for up to five years.
