The Initiative invites applications for conservation partnerships from nonprofit entities and NGOs for projects in tropical Latin America, Africa, and Asia. Applying organizations may submit proposals for either a land purchase or a protected area designation. Applications to create new protected areas are reviewed three times per year. Harvard University’s Center for the Environment awards environmental fellowships. The fellowships enable recent doctorate recipients to use Harvard’s resources to tackle complex environmental problems. Eligibility for funding extends to candidates with a doctorate or equivalent in any subject area from any university in the world. Candidates may propose research projects in any discipline. The fellowship includes a salary of US$92 thousand per year, plus reimbursement for relocation expenses, annual allowance for travel and other professional expenses. Nagao Natural Environment Foundation — Nature Conservation Scholarships for Students from Asia
The NEF Scholarship Scheme financially supports university students from Southeast Asia who study nature conservation (e.g., biology, botany, forestry, etc) at selected universities and institutes in Indonesia, Myanmar, Vietnam, Lao PDR, Cambodia, and the Philippines. Furthermore, scholarship recipients can attend the NEF Student International Workshop. Participants attend lectures, present their own research, visit research facilities, and practice research skills in the field related to nature conservation. IUCN — Forest Investment Projects in Southeast Asia and the Pacific
The International Union for Conservation of Nature runs the SEAP Forests Investment & Technical Partners (SEAP FIT) Coalition under the GEF-8 Southeast Asia and the Pacific Forests Integrated Programme, and invites submissions to the Coalition’s first Call for Projects. The Coalition is a regional partnership platform working to mobilise forest financing, build investment-ready project pipelines, shape enabling forest policy, and strengthen regional capacity for primary forest protection and restoration, sustainable agriculture, and forest-positive commodity value chains. Eligible activities include avoiding deforestation and degradation (REDD+), afforestation and reforestation, improved forest management, agroforestry carbon projects, protected areas, blue carbon forestry, and community or jurisdictional programmes. Submissions are invited from Bhutan, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Papua New Guinea, Thailand, and Vietnam. American Association of University Women — International Fellowships for Women in STEM
The American Association of University Women (AAUW) invites applications for its International Fellowships, which support non-U.S. citizens and non-permanent-residents who are women pursuing full-time graduate study in STEM fields. Applicants must be admitted to or enrolled in their first master’s or first doctoral degree in a STEM field. STEM eligibility spans a wide range of fields, explicitly including agricultural sciences, environmental science, forestry, natural resource science, and marine science alongside the more conventional STEM disciplines. Rainforest Alliance — Kleinhans Fellowship for Research in Community Forestry
The Rainforest Alliance is interested in helping communities and small- and medium-sized enterprises to harvest and manufacture forest and non-timber forest products in a sustainable manner, and market these goods to responsible businesses and consumers. The Kleinhans Fellowship provides US$20 thousand over two years for research on this topic in Latin America, with preference for sites where the Rainforest Alliance currently supports community forestry.
