The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) offers grants to foreign citizens and Italian citizens living abroad for the academic year 2019-2020 in order to foster international cultural, scientific and technological cooperation. Grants are offered to pursue study, training, and/or research programs at Italian Higher Education Institutes. (Note: This may include one or more categories covered by the Terra Viva Grants Directory). Grantees will receive a €900 monthly allowance on a quarterly basis and health insurance. Pulitzer Center — Data Journalism and Property Rights Grants
The Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting provides travel grants to cover hard costs associated with upcoming travel for an international reporting project. The Pulitzer Center seeks applications for data-driven journalism projects related to land rights and property rights. Projects may focus on issues related to indigenous land rights due to the exploration of natural resources, among many other themes. Most awards fall in the range of US$5-15 thousand. Universitas Gadjah Mada — Gadjah Mada International Fellowship
The Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) offers a scholarship to international students from ASEAN member countries (excluding Indonesia), South Korea, Japan, China, Taiwan that demonstrate the need of financial assistance. Study courses include agriculture, forestry, biology, and veterinary medicine. The GMIF program covers tuition fees, living allowance, international airfare, and thesis research of Rp10 million for the Master Program and Rp15 million for the Doctoral Program. Caterpillar Foundation — Grants for Environment and Basic Needs
Internationally, the Caterpillar Foundation has supported projects in tropical forest conservation and afforestation; water and sanitation; food and agriculture; alternative (low-carbon) transportation systems; urban waste recycling; and other themes related to environment and natural resources. The Foundation makes grants to nonprofit organizations such as development NGOs, universities and institutes, foundations, museums, conservation groups, and others. Most grants are in communities in Asia Pacific, Latin America, Africa, the Middle East, and Europe where Caterpillar has an active presence. European Commission — Solving Conflicts over Natural Resources in Kenya
The European Commission to strengthen the capacity of civil society organisations in Kenya in addressing the conflicts revolving around land tenure and access to natural resource. The following activities will be supported under this call: capacity building, land mediation initiatives involving local communities, projects of women’s and youth organisation, research, awareness raising and advocacy activities. Grants requested under this call for proposals must fall between €500 thousand and €1 million. Eligibility extends to non-profit organizations registered in anywhere in the world. U.S. Agency for International Development — Sustainable Forest Management in Guatemala
USAID seeks sustainable forest management project in Guatemala with the aim to reduce emissions from land use change while generating direct economic and environmental benefits for small and medium-sized enterprises and community-based organizations. The project aims to improve the performance and sustainability of local forestry and forest-related businesses, while building healthy forests and livelihoods. The total amount available under this call is US$ 18.5 million. A minimum of 15% of the total project costs has to be covered by the recipient. The Global Environment Facility (GEF) Small Grants Programme (SGP) invites proposals from environmental oriented organizations for community actions and initiatives that aid benefit vulnerable communities and support efforts on sustainable development. Focal areas are (1) Biodiversity Conservation; (2) Protection of Water Resources; (3) Climate Change; (4) Sustainable Forestry Management; and (5) Pollution. Grants are up to US$50 thousand for a total duration of 24 months. Concept papers are invited from non-governmental organizations and local community-based organizations. U.S. Embassy Cameroon — Funding for Community Projects
The U.S. Embassy in Yaounde (Cameroon) seeks proposals for small-scale community projects that address one or more of the following areas: Social Services; Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH); Income Generating Activities; Environment and Agriculture. Proposed projects have to benefit a large number of people and increase income or improve living conditions of local communities. Grants range from US$2 thousand to US$10 thousand. The Andrew E. Rice Award for Leadership and Innovation recognizes the achievements of an exceptional young professional working in the field of international development. Past winners include field research on agriculture strategies and the creation of low-cost digital games that inspire social change. Candidates must be between 22 to 32 years old and have at least two years of experience in international development in developing countries. The winner will receive US$1,000.
