IUCN announces the IUCN Red List of Ecosystems Photo Contest – My Place in Nature. The contest is open to all photographers and aspiring photographers worldwide. Participants are invited to share their story on ecosystems and show their very own place in nature. Winners will be announced on IUCN Red List of Ecosystems social media and exhibited at the IUCN World Conservation Congress. Global Forest Watch — Technology Fellowship 2019
Global Forest Watch (GFW) is an interactive online forest monitoring and alert system designed to empower people with the information they need to better manage and conserve forest landscapes. GFW invites applications for its Technology Fellowship. Through the program, GFW seeks innovators, journalists, conservationists, campaigners, law enforcement officers, scientists, and indigenous leaders who are committed to expanding their forest monitoring experience and sharing this knowledge. The Grassroots Justice Prize recognizes grassroots institutions across the globe that are working to put the power of law into people’s hands. Three awards, each of US$10 thousand, are available to non-profit organizations, social enterprises, and public institutions that focus on legal empowerment to tackle poverty, injustice, or other social problems. The Bower Award is made to individuals who have made significant contributions to understanding and quantifying perturbations of natural systems within the biosphere, atmosphere, or hydrosphere in the age of the Anthropocene. The “young scientists’ mobility grant” aims to develop new research partnerships and collaborations between Switzerland and MENA countries. Priority countries under this call are: Egypt, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine, Qatar, Tunisia, and the United Arab Emirates. Mobility grants can be awarded to young scientists who hold a Bachelor or Master’s degree (no PhD) and have less than 6 years of professional research experience. The call is open for activities and research visits in all scientific disciplines and fields of research. The applicant’s mobility visit should have a minimum duration of 4 weeks and with a maximum of CHF5 thousand per grant. (Note: The application form must be completed by the Swiss main applicant). São Paulo School of Advanced Science — Workshop: Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services
The São Paulo School of Advanced Science on Scenarios and Modelling on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services to Support Human Well-Being (SPSAS Scenarios) will hold a 2-week training and networking session in July 2019 on scenarios and modeling in biodiversity and ecosystem services, and its relation to human wellbeing. The Advanced School will be led by speakers from several countries. Approximately 100 applicants, 50 from Brazil and 50 from other countries will be selected to participate in the Advanced School. European Commission — Climate-Smart and Resilient Farming
The European Commission seeks project proposals (two-stage call) to build a low-carbon, climate resilient future. Proposals should address only one of the following sub-topics: (A) the resilience of farming systems, including the livestock sector; and (B) efficiency and resilience of mixed farming and agroforestry systems. Proposals may requests a contribution of up to €7 million. U.S. Department of State — Youth Leadership Program with Burma
The Office of Citizen Exchanges announces an open competition to conduct a four-week U.S.-based exchange program for teenagers and adult educators. The activities for each program will focus on civic education, community engagement and prepare participants to conduct projects at home that serve a community need. Applicants should plan to provide U.S.-based programming for 17-18 youth and 2-3 adult participants from Burma. Applicants may request up to US$190 thousand in project funding. EarthCorps — International Program 2019
EarthCorps invites applications from emerging environmental leaders around the world to participate in an environmental service program in the USA. Participants from the USA and other countries take part in field projects such as tree planting, trail construction, stream restoration, and removal of invasive plants. The international Program is a 6-month learning experience for non-U.S. citizens, which takes place in Seattle, Washington, USA. Applicants should be 18-28 years of age, with a university degree in an environmental field (or equivalent work experience), and speak conversational English. International participants receive a living stipend, health insurance, and accommodations with host families. However, each participant is responsible for her/his travel to Seattle, Washington.
