Australia Department of Education and Training — Endeavour Scholarships and Fellowships 2019

The Endeavour Scholarships and Fellowships are Australia’s program for citizens of the Asia-Pacific, Middle East, Europe, and the Americas for education, research, and professional development in Australia. Applicants for the Endeavour Scholarships and Fellowships are required to make their own approaches to host universities in Australia. Gbowee Peace Foundation Africa — Africa Scholarship 2018

The Gbowee Peace Foundation awards scholarships for postgraduate masters at the University of Dundee (Scotland). Subjects areas include environmental science, energy petroleum and mineral law and policy, and others. The Africa Scholarships are open to female students who are currently Liberian, Nigerian or Ghanaian nationals permanently resident in these countries. Belgium’s University Commission for Development — Student Micro-Projects 2019

The student micro-project program offers students in the Wallonia region of Belgium the opportunity to set up a project in partnership with students from a developing country. Topic areas may include water resources, female empowerment, and several others. The ARES program offers financial support of up to € 15 thousand per micro-project. Belgium’s University Commission for Development — Student Outreach Projects 2019

The student outreach program offers students in the Wallonia region of Belgium the opportunity to raise awareness and organize activities related to development aid issues. The ARES program offers financial support between € 1,500 – 4,500 per outreach project. Past projects include the organization of an ‘awareness day around the theme of agribusiness’ and a ‘sensitization day for graduates on socio-environmental conflicts and management of natural resources in Peru’. Consultative Group to Assist the Poor — Picturing Financial Inclusion in Africa

Consultative Group to Assist the Poor (CGAP) launches its 13th Annual Photos and Videos Contest 2018. The contest seeks striking photographs and short videos that tell the story of how financial services empower poor people and communities in Africa. The grand winner receives a US$ 2,000 gift certificate for photography or video equipment. The 2018 CGAP Photo Contest is open to all photographers and videographers. Euromena Consulting — Awards for MENA Start-ups

Euromena Consulting launches the Euromena Awards – MENA Edition. The awards are intended for companies or innovative projects with social, economic, environmental and/or societal impact. Proposed projects should be related to MENA and/or be established in the region. The three winners will receive coaching and support for 6 months and the 1st place startup receives a €10 thousand financial reward. Applications must be sent before 29 October 2018. Find out more

European Union — Kolarctic Cross-Border Cooperation

Kolarctic supports cross-border strategies between Russia, Finland, Sweden, and Norway in the Barents region of the Arctic. Projects may include issues related to environment and natural resources (e.g., fisheries, plant resources, climate change, etc.). Each proposal must have at least one actor from the EU (Sweden, Finland) and at least one from Russia. Eligibility requirements, and the rules on Lead Partners and partners, are explained in the call for proposals. The next call for proposals will open 21 September 2018 and close on 21 December 2018. Blue Earth Alliance — Photography Projects

Blue Earth sponsors photography projects that educate the public about threatened cultures, endangered environments, and other social concerns. Blue Earth provides assistance with fundraising, publishing, and publicity. However, it does not make direct grants to sponsored projects. The next deadline for proposals is 20 January 2019. Africa Innovates for the SDGs — Award for African Social Innovators

Africa Innovates for the SDGs invites applications from early-stage social innovators in Africa who are solving pressing problems and key challenges linked to the Sustainable Development Goals. Selected innovators will receive funding to develop and scale their innovations to become financially sustainable. Applicants must be a citizen of any African country or a resident in any African countries. The deadline for applications is 07 September 2018. Find the guidelines

UN Women — Youth Led Social Entrepreneurship Solutions in Africa

UN Women partners with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to grant financing to African youth entrepreneurs to develop and implement their solutions to address gender specific development challenges in their communities. Winning entries will receive seed grants of US$ 5 thousand or scale grants of US$ 10 thousand to develop and test their innovations. Eligibility extends to Africans aged between 15 and 35 years with scalable ideas to transform their community or country. The applications deadline is 18 September 2018.
