Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research — Small Grants Program

The Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research calls for projects that focus on the role of ecosystem services in adaptation to global change for human wellbeing. The IAI will provide funds of up to US$ 200 thousand for international collaborative research networks for 2 years. Co-funding is required to be considered for this grant. The call is organized in a 2-phase selection process. Applicants should submit an initial pre-proposal. Selected candidates will then take part in a week-long proposal writing workshop and develop full proposals. The deadline for submitting pre-proposals is 27 May 2018. Check eligibility

Future Africa Institute — Early Career Fellowship

The University of Pretoria announces a new Early Career Fellowship that aims to develop research leadership for the African Bioeconomy. The program will require that at least 70% (8-9 months) of the academic year is spent at the Future Africa Campus of the University of Pretoria. Applications are welcome for such topic areas as technological and non-technological exploitation of natural resources, ecological issues and climate change, and others. Emerging research leaders in the natural and social sciences and humanities are encouraged to apply. Japan International Research Center for Agricultural Sciences — Research Fellowships 2018

JIRCAS provides fellowships to researchers in developing countries to collaborate with Japanese counterparts for research in agriculture, forestry, and fisheries. “Tsukuba” fellowships are carried out at the JIRCAS headquarters in Japan. “Project Site” fellowships are at research institutes in the developing countries where JIRCAS collaborative research projects are being implemented. U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service — Caribbean Regional Program

The Caribbean Program of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) invites proposals for the conservation of species, habitats and ecological processes across landscapes with high biodiversity value in the Caribbean. About 15-20 grants of up to US$90 thousand will be awarded for one year. Eligibility for grants extends to qualified and relevant non-profit organizations, universities, and individuals. U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service — South America Regional Program

The South America Program of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) invites proposals for the conservation of species, habitats and ecological processes across landscapes with high biodiversity value in South America. Requested grants should range from US$25 thousand to a maximum of US$100 thousand. Eligibility for grants extends to qualified and relevant non-profit organizations and universities. Western Union — Scholarship for Undergraduate Study

The Western Union Foundation Global Scholarship Program is a program designed to support young people and their efforts to pursue a post-secondary education in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, or business/entrepreneurship. Selected scholarship recipients will receive USD $2,500 each to contribute toward tuition at an accredited post-secondary institution. European Commission — Sustainable Development in Africa

The European Commission supports civil society organizations and local authorities in Gabon and in São Tomé and Príncipe in the conduct of good governance and sustainable development. Proposed projects must strengthen the capacities of active civil society organizations in the fields of economic development, the environment, innovation and the business sector, with specific attention to women. World Academy of Sciences — C.N.R. Rao Prize for Scientific Research 2018

The prize is named after TWAS Founding Fellow and former president C.N.R. Rao to honor TWAS Fellows from the developing world. The special focus is scientists in the world’s scientifically lagging and least-developed countries who have made significant contributions to global science. UNESCO World Heritage Education Programme — World Heritage Young Professionals Forum 2018

Candidates who wish to attend the World Heritage Young Professionals Forum 2018 under the theme of ‘Protecting Heritage in an Ever-Changing World’ from 17 to 26 June 2018 in Manama (Bahrain) are invited to apply for a conference scholarship. The Forum aims to transmit the values of World Heritage, highlighting the potential that World Heritage education may have for facilitating sustainable development. All travel and accommodation costs for the selected participants will be covered. The organizers will assist in the travel preparations (including visas) and bookings. Stephen Lloyd Awards — Sustainable Social Change

Applications are open for the Stephen Lloyd Awards. The awards seek nurturing innovative ideas and projects from all around the world that can lead to practical, sustainable social change. This includes one or more categories of the Terra Viva Grants Directory. Funding of up to £20 thousand will be made available to support award winners in developing their initiatives.
