United Nations — Ocean Law Fellowship Programme

The United Nations Division for Ocean Affairs and the Law of the Sea (DOALOS) and the Nippon Foundation seek applications for a 9-month Fellowship Programme. The Programme seeks to provide the necessary knowledge and skills to assist developing States towards the formulation of comprehensive ocean law and policy. To be eligible, applicants must be nominated by their government. The application deadline is 13 September 2019. Applicants can apply online via this website

European Commission — Supporting Small-Scale Fisheries in Africa and the Indian Ocean

The European Commission seeks to support environmental sustainable of small-scale inland and marine fisheries in Eastern Africa, Southern Africa and the Indian Ocean region. The objective of this call is to secure more sustainable fisheries management and contribute to marine biodiversity and climate resilience. Any grant requested under this call for proposals must fall between €500 thousand and €1 million. Eligibility extends to a wide variety of organisations, including non-profit, social enterprise, businesses, local governments, or international organizations. Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs — Danida Market Development Partnerships 2019

Danida Market Development Partnerships promote the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. Focusing on SDG 8, the main objective is to promote sustainable local economic growth and employment in developing countries in agriculture, energy, and other sectors. Applications are invited from consortia that include a business partner and an administrative partner, and possibly including additional partners from civil society, government, universities, etc. The program is available in Denmark’s priority countries for development assistance, and in selected other countries below the World Bank limit of lower-middle income countries that have a Danish representation. DMDP has a budget of DKK 100 million in 2019 for 10-12 partnerships. Danida’s support to the partnership project may cover up to 75% of total project costs. British Embassy Lima — Gender Equality, Clean Growth and Media Freedom

The British Embassy, through the Foreign & Commonwealth Office’s programme, invites local and international organisations to submit proposals for projects on British Embassy priorities in Peru. There are four thematic areas, including ‘clean growth’ that relates to reducing the use of plastics and initiatives that contribute to making the Pan American and Parapan American Games carbon neutral. U.S. Department of State — Economic Development in the Middle East

The MEPI Local Grants Program seeks proposals that support inclusive economic growth in the Western Sahara by improving local economic opportunities. Proposals should develop and implementing locally-designed solutions to environmental, economic, or social problems or promote inclusive economic growth that reaches marginalized communities. (Note: This may include one or more categories of the Terra Viva Grant Directory.) Budgets should fall between US$50 thousand and US$500 thousand. Royal Institute of International Affairs — Richard and Susan Hayden Academy Fellowship

Chatham House, the Royal Institute of International Affairs, offers academy fellowships to international leaders. Applicants are recommended to consider existing research programmes that include climate change and the incorporation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by international organizations. The fellowship is aimed at mid-career professionals from academia, NGOs, business, government departments, civil society or the media. The fellowship is open to candidates worldwide. Selected candidates will receive a monthly stipend of £2,295 throughout the 10 month duration of the fellowship. The closing date for applications is 29 April 2019. Find out more

SeaWorld and Busch Gardens — Grants for Wildlife Conservation, Research, and Education

The Conservation Fund makes grants for wildlife conservation, research, and education. Applications are accepted from non-profit organizations, government entities, and schools and universities in the USA and other countries. Most grants are under US$50 thousand. Applications received by 30 April 2019 will be considered for funding in the last two quarters of 2019. More

Ramsar Convention — Small Grants for Wetland Conservation

The Ramsar Small Grants Fund for Wetland Conservation and Wise Use (SGF) assists developing countries to enable the conservation and wise use of wetland resources. The SGF offers a maximum of CHF 35 thousand per project. Eligibility for the awards extends to individuals and groups worldwide representing government institutions, NGOs, community groups, and private companies. West African Science Service Center on Climate Change and Adapted Land Use — Research for Sustainable Development

WASCAL funds research projects that assist in developing the required human capital and decision-making tools for delivering innovative solutions in key regions that are expected to be severely affected by climate change. Funding is provided to institutions of higher education, governmental organisations, NGOs, and companies in Germany, Benin, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Gambia, Ghana, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Togo, and Cabo Verde. Each project proposal must be submitted by a consortium with researchers from at least two eligible institutions. Each institution can receive up to €500 thousand for a maximum period of three years. U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service — Conservation in Central Africa

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s aim is to conserve, protect and enhance fish, wildlife and plants and their habitats for the continuing benefit of the American people. For that reason, the USFWS “Wildlife Without Borders” seeks proposals to reduce threats to key wildlife populations in Central Africa from wildlife trafficking, unsustainable resource use, and human-wildlife conflicts. Grants under this call will range from US$30 thousand to US$2 million. Grants are to organizations, institutions of higher education, governments and individuals.
