U.S. Department of State — Morocco Green Growth Climate Challenge

The U.S. Department of State will make one grant for approximately US$400 thousand to assist Morocco with a competition to help build capacity to mitigate the impacts of climate change through the use of clean energy and energy-efficient technologies. The challenge will feature small grants for workshops on energy technologies, public policy, and business development. Applications to manage the challenge are invited from non-profit NGOs; private, public, and state institutions of higher education; and for-profit organizations and businesses in the U.S. and elsewhere (e.g., Morocco). LEDS Global Partnership — Fellowships on Low-Emission Development Strategies

The LEDS Global Partnership offers fellowships for individuals and teams of practitioners to be embedded with leading institutions to learn practical lessons that they can apply to low-emission development strategies and/or nationally determined contributions in their home countries. Fellowships will be awarded to individuals or groups of national or sub-national government officials who play a significant role within LEDS development or implementation. This pilot phase of the program will fund one fellow from each of Africa, Asia, and Latin America and the Caribbean. The application deadline has been extended to 15 July 2016. Link

European Commission (EC) — Support for Fisheries and Aquaculture in Algeria

The EC will make grants to strengthen organizational and operational capacity for fisheries and aquaculture in Algeria. Eligibility for funding extends to NGOs, public agencies, local authorities, cooperatives, enterprise groups, etc., in European countries and Algeria. International organizations are also eligible. Grants will range from €50 thousand to €500 thousand, varying by objectives (lots) and cost shares. Reference EuropeAid/152641/DD/ACT/DZ. The closing date for applications is 18 September 2016. Link

Global Climate Change Alliance — Global Learning Event in Support of COP21

The European Commission announces its global event, “Innovative and Effective Approaches to Climate Change Adaptation and Other Post-COP21 Agreement Priorities,” scheduled for three days in September 2016. The event in Brussels will explore how experience on the ground influences policy development and vice-versa through discussion of four specific topics. The conference organizers invite proposals on these topics from EU Delegation representatives; implementing partners; governmental bodies; and non-state actors from academia, NGOs, and the private sector. Travel support will be provided to selected presenters, subject to individual arrangements. The deadline for one-page concept notes is 15 June 2016.  Link
