Grinnell College — Grinnell Prize 2022

Grinnell College invites nominations for the 2022 Grinnell Prize. The Grinnell Prize of US$50 thousand will be awarded to individuals who show creativity, commitment, and extraordinary accomplishment in effecting positive social change. Past nominations have spanned a diversity of social issues related to agriculture and hunger relief, conservation and environment, and many other thematic areas. Nominees may be nationals of any country who have earned a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) between 2006 and 2022. Nominees must be nominated by a third party. Fondation Segré — Research Support Grants

The Fondation Segré Research Support Grants provide support to young and early-career researchers in their research to improve the knowledge on species and their role in natural ecosystems. The maximum grant size is €7 thousand for a maximum duration of 12 months. Applicants have to be enrolled at an academic institution in order to apply. The call remains open until 31 August 2021. Global Landscapes Forum — Amazonian Storytelling Competition

TThe Global Landscapes Forum (GLF) hosts an Amazonian Storytelling Competition looking for perspectives from Indigenous peoples and local communities, Afro-descendant peoples, peasants and women, farmers, and community leaders. Topics include deforestation, biodiversity loss, land rights, ecosystem restoration, and food security, among others. The three best stories will receive prizes of €500, €300 and €200 respectively. The competition is open to any young person between the ages of 18 and 35 who is currently living in the Amazon (Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, French Guiana, Peru, Suriname, Venezuela). Society for Conservation Biology — Research in Marine Conservation

The Society for Conservation Biology (Marine Section) supports the Conservation Research Small Grants Program. The program provides grants of US$750 to US$1,000 for marine conservation research in areas of acute need, especially for research in the developing world or for organizations with limited access to conservation funding. Applicants must be members of the Society for Conservation Biology and the SCB Marine Section, or join the SCB before applying for grants. Applications are accepted annually between 1 July and 15 September. Find information here

African Academy of Sciences — Research Grant

The African Research Initiative for Scientific Excellence Pilot Program (ARISE-PP) Grant is an opportunity for early-career scientists to further develop their research career and become a principal researcher leading their own grant. The program is open to African researchers with 2-7 years of research experience since completion of their PhD and an excellent research proposal to conduct research in an African university or research institution. The ARISE-PP grants are open to applications from all fields of research. The maximum grant amount per grantee is €500 thousand for a period max. 5 years. The University of Rwanda offers PHD research Programs in Energy for Sustainable Development in (1) Renewable Energy, (2) Electrical Power Systems, and (3) Energy Economics. TotalEnergies, Enea Consulting and Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL) launch the Energy Access Booster 2021 – a call for projects to support entrepreneurs in the field of energy access in Africa and Asia focusing on sustainable mobility. Empower a Billion Lives — Solutions to Energy Poverty

IEEE Empower a Billion Lives is a global competition aimed at fostering innovation to develop solutions to electricity access. Solutions are expected to be scalable, innovative and sustainable. The competition is open to student groups, companies, research institutions, and non-profit organizations. Winners of the regional round will be provided enough funding to complete a 2-month long field pilot. Global final winners will receive up to $1 million in prize monies. Teams must present their solution concept and a three-minute pitch video until 31 October 2021. Link

Climate Tracker — Solutions Reporting Fellowship

Climate Tracker seeks early-career journalists with a passion for a 6-month paid media mentorship-fellowship. Selected fellows will write and publish powerful sustainability stories focused on local solutions in their country/region, and receive coaching and mentoring from experts to gain hands-on experience in reporting on climate change and sustainability issues.
