The Biophilia Award for Environmental Communication recognizes the work of professionals and organizations worldwide in any aspect of environmental communication, especially in the areas of biodiversity conservation and climate change. Contributions may encompass a wide spectrum of formats, styles, channels, and projects in any medium. Eligibility extends to natural or legal persons of any nationality engaging professionally in any facet of environmental communication. One award will be given comprising €100 thousand. The U.S. Embassy announces assistance for community projects in Somalia. Priority areas include one on mitigating the effects of climate change. Earth Journalism Network — Ocean Media Initiative Story Grants
The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) offers reporting grants to journalists worldwide to support the production of in-depth stories on the high seas. EJN welcomes story ideas that focus on the high seas and their importance to climate change, biodiversity and other global issues. The Network expects to award up to 10 grants with an average budget of US$1200 each. Applicants can be from any country in the world, but applicants from coastal countries are preferred. Taiwan International Cooperation and Development Fund — Scholarships for Higher Education 2022
Taiwan’s program of development assistance includes scholarships for university students in eligible developing countries to study in Taiwan. The program provides full scholarships for applicants from selected countries in the Asia-Pacific region, Sub-Saharan Africa, the Caribbean region, Latin America, and certain other countries. Subject areas at Taiwan’s participating universities include tropical agriculture, aquaculture technology and management, environmental sustainable development, and others. Undergraduate students receive NT$12 thousand per month as an allowance, Masters students receive NT$15 thousand per month, and PhD students receive NT$17 thousand per month, plus travel, fees and other costs for the program. Nuffic, a Dutch non-profit organization for internationalization in education, offers scholarships for studies in the Netherlands. Students from China, India, Indonesia, South Africa, Korea, Russia and Vietnam are invited to apply for studies at selected universities listed in the call. Subject areas include earth sciences, ecology, and many others. The Orange Tulip Scholarship recipients will get discounts on study fees ranging from 30% to 100%, or an offer for living expenses per month (without a discount on study fees). Earth Island Institute — Youth Award for Environmental Leadership
Earth Island Institute seeks applications for the Brower Youth Award for Environmental Leadership. The award is intended for ongoing environmental efforts, therefore, research and science fair projects will not be considered. Six winners will receive $3 thousand in cash, a professionally produced short film about their work, and a week-long trip to the San Francisco Bay Area. Compassion in World Farming International — Farm Animals in Asia
Compassion in World Farming International accepts applications for three different types of grants to organizations who are invested in improving farm animal welfare in Indonesia, Japan or South Korea. Training Grants (US$4,000) to support individuals and organizations in growing their capacity, Organization Development Grants (US$7,000) to establish or expand the ability to advocate for farm animals, and Campaigning Grants (US$9,000) to cover the costs of delivering campaigns which advocate for regional, national or local government action.
