The National Geographic Society seeks proposals that “stimulate, promote and support conservation actions for halting biodiversity decline, preventing species’ extinctions, and restoring and conserving intact habitats and ecosystems, both on the ground and in the water”. In partnership with the IUCN SSC, the goal is to halt further biodiversity decline by implementing species conservation plans. Funds are not restricted by taxon or region, but proposals must include principal investigators or participants resident in the country where the fieldwork will be conducted. The Scientific Committee on Oceanic Research (SCOR) provides travel support for scientists from low- to medium-income countries to attend ocean science meetings. The purpose of this support is to help scientists, particularly early-career scientists, to network with colleagues from other countries, share their research, and form partnerships in the global ocean science community. The British Academy — Research Chair in Sustainability (Jordan)
The goal of the Jordan-UK El Hassan bin Talal Research Chair in Sustainability is to enhance the research and innovation capacity of Jordan for long-term sustainable development. The call is open to applicants with expertise in any area relevant to sustainability, including but not limited to food security, water, energy and the environment, climate change, and sustainable livelihoods. The Mobility Grants aim to encourage researchers from Swiss institutions to boost their careers with a research stay (and fieldwork) in Latin America. Grants up to CHF7 thousand will be awarded to cover travel expenses, accommodation, consumables, and fieldwork. Researchers enrolled in a program in any scientific discipline and field in Switzerland can apply for a grant regardless of their nationality. The deadline for applications is 25 May 2020. Governments of India and Serbia — Scientific and Technological Cooperation
The joint call for proposals under the ‘India-Serbia Scientific and Technological Cooperation Program’ aims to strengthen and expand relations between scientific communities and promote the implementation of joint projects with enterprises from both countries. Priority areas under this call include biotechnology to strengthen food security and energy efficiency, among others. Scientists and faculty members working at recognized universities or research institutes are eligible to apply for funding. WASCAL — Master’s Program on Climate Change and Marine Sciences
The Technical University of Atlantic (Cabo Verde) seeks applications for its Master’s Program on Climate Change and Marine Sciences (MP-CCMS). The West African Science Service Center on Climate Change and Adapted Land Use (WASCAL) offers scholarships to African MSc students. The program includes English language training for participants from Francophone countries, three semesters of joint Master’s courses, shipboard training, and a scientific trip to a German partner institution. To eligible for this scholarship, applicants must be citizens of Benin, Burkina Faso, Cabo Verde, Côte d’Ivoire, Gambia, Ghana, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, or Togo. The Yousef Jameel Scholarship Fund at Humboldt University annually awards five scholarships for doctoral studies in the natural sciences to applicants from Arabic countries. The program seeks applicants in the disciplines of sustainable desert agriculture; plant-based medicine; and renewable energy. The stipend awarded is €1340 per month, plus material expenses.
